NA LCS Team Reports/Playoff Predictions Super Post
Current Standings:
TSM: 17-3
Cloud 9: 16-4
CLG: 12-8
Dignitas: 9-11
Curse: 8-12
Coast: 7-13
EG: 6-14
XDG: 5-15
Individual Team Reports:
Team Solo Mid
Record: 17-3 (4-0 last week)
Playoff Status: Clinched. Three more wins secures a first round bye.
Predicted Final Record: 25-3
TSM looks well positioned to grab a first round bye in the Spring Playoffs, guaranteeing them a spot in the Summer Split. Initial worries that the subbing in of Reginald in the face of Bjergsen's Visa issues proved unfounded, as TSM finished with a 5-1 record with Reginald in the Mid Lane. With Bjergsen returning after the break, TSM looks poised to continue their dominance. Their focus now turns to winning the Spring Playoffs, and securing their spot at All-Stars as North America's representative.
Cloud 9
Record: 16-4 (4-0)
Playoff Status: Clinched
Predicted Final Record: 22-6
Cloud 9 managed to eek out a 4-0 record during Super Week, despite some poor play that led to two almost defeats to Dignitas and Curse. CLG's own poor performance took the pressure off from below, leaving Cloud 9 with some breathing room as they look to secure the 2nd first round bye in the Spring Split, a necessity for an otherwise great team that has shown a tendency for the bad loss. Before all that, they get to defend the honor of the NA Region in the IEM World Championship this week. This will be an important indicator of where NA stands in comparison to the other regions.
CLG
Record: 12-8 (2-2)
Playoff Status: Clinches playoff spot with 2 wins, or 2 EG losses
Predicted Record: 19-9
CLG entered Super Week with high expectations, looking to prove themselves against top competition. Unfortunately, losses to TSM and Cloud 9 likely eliminated any hopes they had for a first round bye. CLG's loss to Cloud 9 was particularly disturbing due to the large number of foolish mistakes made all over the map, and especially by Doublelift. This team remains a work in progress, despite being without a doubt the third best team in the NA LCS. If they can use Super Week as a learning experience, don't be surprised if this team makes it all the way to the finals of the Spring Playoffs.
Dignitas
Record: 9-11 (1-3)
Playoff Status: Unsecured. Holds tiebreaker edge over EG and Coast, loses tiebreaker to Curse.
Predicted Record: 12-16
A once promising split continued to crash during Super Week, and while their position remains favorable, this is without a doubt a much more difficult road to the playoffs than Dignitas intended. With the emergence of multiple dominating mid laners, Scarra's struggles are an alarming trend for a team that hasn't learned how to win without him. Imaqtpie has been wearing his best carry pants for most of the split, but he's going to need some help if Dignitas is to go anywhere in the Spring Playoffs. It may not matter if Cruzer can't stop dying in lane.
Curse
Record: 8-12 (3-1)
Playoff Status: Unsecured. Holds Tiebreaker edge over Coast and Dignitas.
Predicted Record: 11-17
Curse took care of business in the 2nd super week of the split against the teams they're fighting with for the last playoff spots with wins over XDG, Dignitas and EG. Those wins bought Curse their first real breathing room in the standings all split. They're going to need to keep the train rolling in week 9 against Dignitas and XDG, because TSM and Cloud 9 come to town in week 10. Looking Ahead, Curse would like to avoid falling to the 6th spot in the standings, as that would match them against CLG in the first round, while 5th place would net them Dignitas, who they have performed well against all split.
Coast
Record: 7-13 (0-4)
Playoff Status: Endangered. Predicted Tiebreaker edge over EG,
Predicted Record: 11-17
If expectations skyrocketed for Coast after they took down TSM on the way to going 5-1 in the 3 weeks before Super Week, they came crashing down after Coast ended Super Week without a single win in their four games. It's clear at this point that the win conditions for Coast are far too limited, and every player besides Shiphtur and ZionSpartan is too inferior for Coast to win consistently against top competition. Things could get dangerous if they lose the mental game after being forced to readjust their expectations. The most important thing now is to secure their spot in the Spring Playoffs.
Evil Geniuses
Record: 6-14 (1-3)
Playoff Status: Outside Looking In. Zero Predicted tiebreaker edges.
Predicted Record: 7-21
Things are looking grim for the former EU super power. They are theoretically in contention for the final spot in the Spring Playoffs, but their ceiling just seems much lower than either Curse or Coast right now. This is a team without a strength, and a lot of weaknesses. It's hard to imagine them avoiding relegation, even if they do make it to the Playoffs, and that's likely best for the NA LCS. Most of this team is either past their prime, or were never LCS material in the first place.
XDG
Record: 5-15 (1-3)
Playoff Status: Outside looking in. Zero possible tiebreaker advantages.
Predicted Record: 5-23
I think they'll win another game before all is said and done, but if you go through each game and have to pick a winner, I don't think they'd be favored in any game. Thus the above predicted record. What a fall from grace. Was this team just a Meta Cinderella? It's a fact of life, and history, that those who fail to adapt to change disappear from it. This team remains irreparably broken. Being relegated would be a mercy. There are LCS caliber players on this team, but it's clear that a change of scenery is best for everyone involved. Again, wow. Nobody would have expected this.
