Feels like it’s early November again with all this fresh snow ❄️
....... by Brigitte Lorenz
I’ve been meaning to go across the ice to my home village this winter and I finally found the time to do so last weekend. I was out for 7 hours! I think I walked like 16 km in total. I made it to a snowmobile cabin that’s one of my favorite places to be. There’s a woodshed and an axe that you can borrow there. I chopped some wood and made a fire and sat there for a long time.
Saw some people that were ice fishing, others were skiing or out with their snowmobiles.
I was joined by a lil moth :D It sat near my mug of tea and then climbed up on a pine cone
Saturday was so eventful and nice, I was out for over four hours :o
There was some kind of racing competition at Gammelängsberget??
And I met a guy who was out skiing with his dogs who stopped and talked a little. I said I’d spotted some willow tits and he told me there’s a bird feeding station nearby that he and another person tends to! One of the things I’ve missed most about leaving my home village and childhood home is the bird feeders we used to have on our yard. But now I have a new bird place, I’m so happy! :D
But afterwards I was like, wait don’t I recognize that man..?? I think it might have been this dude who was interviewed by DN because he lives right next to Stegra/H2 Green Steel (the new steel factory they’re building here in Boden). Cause in the article it’s mentioned that he’s interested in birds, and the dogs in the picture below look very much like the dogs the man I met had with him. I’m not 100% sure but I think it was him :o He definitely had a mustache so that checks out
Also when I was making my way down the mountain as it was getting dark, I saw a hazel grouse :D
Skied up to Gammelängsfortet
Old rusty fence with barbed wire near the fort
You can see the whole town from here!
Lotsa snow this week and pretty cold nights for this time of year ❄️ I heard that places further north in Norrbotten had like -33C recently
