I've got a busy day today. Perhaps a conversation with a very dear friend who's going through an extremely tough time. I hope I can help her through my experiences when Uli was ill. Then I'm going to meet one of my favourite people in Athens for a coffee & a chat - looking forward to that. I left the nasty bureaucratic meeting for the afternoon. I don't know why I have to do these things at the last minute - I gave everybody a window of 3 weeks when I'd be in Athens, but they chose meetings in the last 2 days I'll be here before leaving for Ios. Not cool, guys. Passing through Syntagma Square on the way to the metro. This place is always buzzing with activity. What a fabulous city Athens is! A heady mix of ancient artefacts & contemporary urban life. So much to see & experience. I feel privileged to be able to live here, even though I'm looking forward to getting back to a simpler way of life on the island I call home. Only one more meeting tomorrow afternoon & I'm off. Lucky me, being able to experience both urban life & the pleasure of living on a little Greek island. Anafiotika - why do I love this area of Athens so much? Because it reminds me of Ios - the little white houses, the narrow streets and steps leading up to the Acropolis. These are all characteristics of a Cycladic island. Not surprising really as workmen from Anafi island were brought over to construct the buildings in the 19th century. Now it is like a quaint little village inside the bustling metropolis of modern Athens. Springtime in Greece. All seasons have their charm, but there is a certain magic about spring here. Sat in the garden for a while listening to the birds & watching the butterflies flit from flower to flower. I'm amazed at the resilience of the flowers - they seem to flourish everywhere. Pushing up through cracks in the pavement or in the walls of buildings, taking over any bit of waste ground they cover it in a panoply of green & multi coloured little flowers. The poppies have finally made an appearance - my favourites. Have I done any work? Not much, I'll admit but I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I'm giving myself some slack & just enjoying the wonders of #springtimeingreece #March2017 #lambisstory #springtimeinathens #wildflowersingreece (at Ellinikón, Greece)

Spent the day around the house trying to finish up paperwork (never ending) & made myself a meal of stir-fried veggies with rice noodles & prawns and a liberal sprinkling of fresh coriander. I try & cook for myself at least 4 times a week & the rest of the time I'll have snacks or eat out.
