As it's rained a lot, the island is still green and awash with wild flowers. So pretty. Have spent most of the day at home enjoying the vibes there. Will go out a bit later to meet up with a friend & have a bite to eat. Wild flowers on the slopes of the Athens Riviera. It's been a blast walking around this area in the past week. I'd never walked here before & I hadn't realised how beautiful it was - especially in spring. It's too hot for me to do much walking in summer, so I've enjoyed getting to know the area better now. Still battling with my Mac, but I seem to have made some progress. Springtime in Greece. All seasons have their charm, but there is a certain magic about spring here. Sat in the garden for a while listening to the birds & watching the butterflies flit from flower to flower. I'm amazed at the resilience of the flowers - they seem to flourish everywhere. Pushing up through cracks in the pavement or in the walls of buildings, taking over any bit of waste ground they cover it in a panoply of green & multi coloured little flowers. The poppies have finally made an appearance - my favourites. Have I done any work? Not much, I'll admit but I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I'm giving myself some slack & just enjoying the wonders of #springtimeingreece #March2017 #lambisstory #springtimeinathens #wildflowersingreece (at Ellinikón, Greece)

And then the sun came out & changed my mood. I saw so many plants growing wild on my walk. Some would call these weeds, but I prefer to call them wild flowers. Many of them are edible & you'll see many people in Greece with plastic bags gathering the green leaves. My mother's favourite were dandelion leaves which she'd make into a salad (a bit too bitter for my taste when I was younger). I rather like the idea of foraging & free food, so I'll have to learn more about these plants & which are good to eat. Called by the generic name of "xorta"(greens), some are s'posed to have great nutritional value.
