Weekend Fun: Are we there yet?
One great thing about having the kids all week is that once the weekend comes Mr. Mom is officially off duty, well not exactly but you’d think that would be some sort of unwritten rule, no?
This weekend we attempted mission impossible, literally packing up both kids and hitting the road for a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour (You would have had to have been a fan of the Skipper to get that one).
Ok it wasn’t actually a tour it was a drive down to Windsor for our nephew Aiden’s first b-day and it was more like 4 very long hours full of feedings, diaper changes, and a lot and I mean a lot of singing, story telling and crying. Like, how many different ways can you serve up the same princess and monster story without losing the audience?
“Yes Zoya, this time the monster was purple with 3 eyes….“ But, in all honesty I was very impressed with my wife’s ability to tell stories and keep the kids focused and engaged. Actually, who am I kidding. The kids aside, I was pretty in-tune until about the 10th time around when I finally caught on that nothing but the color of the monster was changing.
But I’m so glad that I was driving because poor B was stuck in-between 2 carseats and 2 loud, very loud crying and cranky kids. At least I was upfront and tried to zone out to my 80’s music every chance I got but the kids really do know how to get your attention and they don’t quit until they do… "Dad. Dad. Daddy. Dadda. Booger Monster”… “What the?!”
Overall we had a great time in Windsor and enjoyed our time at Springz which is a trampoline paradise for kids and adults alike! (But I don’t know how the kids do it because I’m still in pain from jumping or maybe I’m just too old).
So besides the constant crying, frequent stops and the projectile style vomiting incident (don’t ask). We managed to make it there and back safe and sound just in time to wish my niece Dhaya a very very happy 5th birthday! (So sorry for missing your party sweetie).
September is actually a very busy birthday month for us so while most people will start their fad diets in September along with back-to-school. My diet actually goes out the window with so much cake and the arrival of the McDonald’s coupons, forget about it!
P.S. Happy belated Birthday to my nieces Meetu / Simu and let’s not forget about grandpa!
