"Sprites"
"The Corwyn (pronounced core-win) fae of the Avånde (ah-vahn-dee) clan are sprites who like to live peaceful lives in the forest, usually in comfy cottages near running streams or rivers, not too far from some local town or village but not so close that their inhabitants would intrude much upon the forest. They are essentially a shy folk, who most often live alone or in very small groups, and prefer the serenity of the forest to the hubbub of modern life. Although, necessity requires them to depend upon modern civilization somewhat, so they never wish to be too far from what they need."
"Theirs is a democracy, although, there really isn't much to vote about and mainly they believe in minding their own business and going about their own concerns, which is, mostly, a sort of healing and cleansing witchcraft. This is also what keeps them near "civilization" for it is their chosen avocation to purify individuals and the environment around them. They seek to help those that they can, and are sometimes hired by those who need a new (to them) house cleared of old energies. Purifying the atmosphere, attracting positive spirits, and clearing away hauntings are all part of what they do. They are sort of the Britta filters of the psychic world."
"Yet, their relationship with mankind varies. They seek to help, heal and enlighten those that they can and who are open to these gifts, they hide from those who may be dangerous or just plain pests or intrusive busybodies, and they will take revenge, if necessary, upon those who have deserved it. Ever they seek to keep the world in balance. Particularly, their own part of the world."
"Their relationship with spirits is much the same. They treat each as they deserve, helping them to purify and uplift themselves when possible, avoiding the meddlesome, and disciplining demons if required. They have no particular deities that they interact with, but they do feel that one's life energy is on loan from the Divine Magic from which we all arise and of which we are each and all a part and a manifestation."
"They don't have a flag or banner, but some of them wear a patch or badge or sometimes a jewelry pin or even an amulet that has a hare upon it. This is their way of saying that they are much quicker than they appear, bounce around from place to place (are spritely), and listen well (the long ears) to all that is said near them."
