Ok I kinda wanna complain about this
Does anyone else feel like its so weird how bassies storyline is all about how shes “too dependent” on others to be a main character or whatever but then you look at the roster of main characters and theres. Sprout “Dependent” Seedly. Yknow. the guy who’s constantly following around his buddy Cosmo and talking about how he feels empty inside when they arent together and how he feels like he was made to be by cosmos side. That guy. who is Somehow a main character.
Like!! not only does it nor make sense when comparing to Bassie’s storyline but it also never made sense to me in general even before bassie came out… like the story would make infinitely more sense if their roles were swapped.
This is kinda my main reason as to why I Dont Really Like Sprout bc I mean yeah that character trope isnt that interesting to me in general but it just Doesnt make sense to me when given to a character like sprout….
esp bc I feel like he kinda Doesnt exibit Any of the traits he was said to have.. kinda a hyperbole, but a lot of the traits he was labeled with (overprotective, anger issues) he kinda. never shows . or only shows when cosmo is related . like we see him get mad like Once (iirc) and it was when Shrimpo insulted Cosmo. cmon guys. he is also only really overprotective over cosmo and maybe astro but other than that we dont really see him exhibit that trait in-game (not counting his ability, its an ability) (again, iirc) .
I feel like the story would make more sense if Cosmo was either the main or the one experiencing these feelings bc like . both Cosmo and Sprout are shown to be good w people and Have friends outside of each other (even if theyre. not relevant to each others characters at all #Okay ) (why cant they have impactful relationships outside of each other…)
i think a much more interesting way to go about it would be whoever the main was having a lot of friends and talking to all of them frequently (can even be combined with “but their best friend gets priority, of course” !!!) and the other one (the first side character made) is happy for them but feels like They were Meant to be together and feeling empty or even envious when [the main] is hanging out with others all the time (even if theyre know they have priority) (even if they know theyre “the best friend”) Because they were Made to be together, Right? They should be together all the time. But they dont communicate that (Name one character in Dandy’s World with clear communication skills..!) and so are stuck with this feeling of the relationship being one sided and being empty and lonely when the other isnt around, even if theyre have other friends too. Its not enough- after all, they were Made to be with [the main]. They should always be together…
Its just a story that makes WAYY more sense in the grand scheme of things.. to me anyway.
