New York Times, June 19, 1967 - by Rita Reif, "Furniture Shows It's Colors for Fall." Early summer 1967 was when Dunbar Furniture first showed the collection by Roger Sprunger who would later take over as Designer Director for Dunbar Furniture. The venue was The International Home Furnishings Market in Chicago, which was the semi-annual wholesale furnishings show to be held at the Merchandise Mart and the American Furniture Mart. It was expected to attract 40,000 visitors. Excerpt: Bulky modern furniture, which is associated with the nineteen-twenties and thirties revival of the last two years, continues to be a strong poiont at Dunbar. The company is now showing the first major collection of its designer, Roger Sprunger. There is only one design by Edward Wormley, who has been with the concern for more than 30 years, but his influence is noticeable in many of Mr. Sprunger's offerings. An Ash and brass-based table wioth solar bronze glass top owes much to the sheaf of wheat design that Mr. Wormley created in the late nineteen-forties. Outstanding in the Dunbar collection is a combination bed-chest that marks a new trend in furniture--moving the pieces away from the perimeter of the room and into the center. The back of the ash and oak chest of drawers forms the headboard of the 60-inch wide bed, dividing the bedroom into a dual-purpose room to used for sleeping and, say, study. epoca will be presenting An Impressive And Large Roger Sprunger For Dunbar 1970's Rosewood 3-drawer Executive Desk With Polished Chrome Supports 1970's at The 2018 San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show.
