Okay someone had to ask... what kind of parents are these dragons to Spyro? Considering he's the only baby, this is a team effort !! Pick any dragons you like!!
Now that's a really good question! And one that might be a bit difficult to write in a short manner because there's more than one answer to that 😂
Dragon clans do in fact raise their youngs as a community rather than a traditional nuclear family, so when Spyro ended up being the only baby for one generation, everyone in the Artisan realms had put their efforts together to raise him properly, because even with his small size, he was quite a handful (and even that is putting it lightly). The other clans didn't want to be left out since they didn't have their own babies to look after, so the Artisans had to compromise by being like 'You can have babysitting privileges if you visit us. Once he's a little more older to walk on his own, he can come visit your realms as well.'
So by process of elimination, every Artisan gets automatically the title of 'Dad' and 'Grandpa'. While everyone outside of that group is instead 'Uncle', more 'Grandpas' and even some 'Brother' titles in the mix.
But if you want me to go even more hyper specific, I made a top ten tier list (in no particular order). That is not to say Spyro loves some dragons more than the others, but there's definitely a preference on which parental/familiar figure he will seek out first when he needs advice or comfort.
- Nestor (Number One Dad) - He is the closest you can get to a typical 'dad' figure for Spyro. He even was the one that held him when he hatched from his egg and the inprinting was instant between the two. As an Artisan leader, the little purple drake truly taught him the meaning of the word patience. Including testing how many near heart attacks he can handle in a single day.
- Delbin (Second Dad) - When Nestor needed lengthy breaks after 'parenting duty', Delbin was often one the quicker ones to take over. Painting was always an ideal activity to keep little rambatious Spyro busy for a couple of hours, and despite their quality, the red painter still has those tiny paintings proudly displayed in his home.
- Lindar (Clock Dad) - When it came to playtime, Lindar was a top tier candidate. And he gladly took that title, because even if the little purple boy made his ran out of energy quick, he at least had the perfect accomplice to take part in his prank ideas. Blame him for Spyro's love of pranks and being a little mischievous.
- Bubba (Fun Uncle) - If theres was one babysitter that knew how to handle baby Spyro rowdy energy, it was Bubba, because of his equally boundless energy. Which was both a good and a bad thing, depending on who you ask. Was also the one that taught him swear words, which Spyro promised not to tell, because they know if Nestor finds out, he would kick the Beast Maker's ass.
- Ivor (Best Grandpa) - Compared to the other Grandpa's, Spyro thinks he has the best stories to tell. Especially because they involve lots of explosions and deathly stunts. When the others aren't paying attention, Ivor definitely lets the little one try an explosive or two to 'test his skills'.
- Halvor (Cool Older Brother) - Pretty chill guy, but despite his 'younger' age, still has some cool tricks to show Spyro so he can be better prepared to face the world. Very insistent on teaching him how to take proper care of his horns and taught him how to charge at enemies pretty early. Which everyone secretly hates it because Spyro got the hang of it waaaay too quickly.
- Jarvis (Second Most Fun Uncle) - Their favorite activity together is to race each other using the ramps without breaking momentum, which one time ended in disaster, but that hasn't stopped the two of them from still trying to beat their records every time Spyro visits. It's their way of roughousing together when they're not learning about funny spells.
- Gunnar (Rough Uncle) - A little rough around the edges, but Gunnar is very supportive of Spyro's adventurous side, so that's why he will often let him come along when he's patrolling the area. Has plenty of advice to share with the little drake, but also enough protective that he will literally bite the heads off on any enemy that might try to get too close to them when they're having a chat. Coolest thing Spyro has ever seen, while everyone else was slightly horrified.
- Lateef (Kinda Cryptid but Chill Uncle) - Spyro finds him the easiest one to talk to, because even when he thinks he's asking a stupid or pointless question, Lateef shows endless patience in answering each and one of them, even if his phrasing can be a little difficult to understand. He's also trying to learn from him on how to stand on his tail, because that's a very nifty trick.
I started shipping Alban and Gildas before I even played Spyro because hear me out they literally look like Lindars parents??
I think Gildas is a bit of a push over and over protective parent where as Alban was a little more detached- Lindar and Alban aren't as close as Gildas wants

🧸 - he really likes to sew you lots of plushies and warm clothes! he lets you pick out pretty fabric colors and uses only the softest comfiest fabrics for his baby pixie ₍ᐢ. ̫.ᐢ₎
📖 - he loves telling you stories about fairies and other fantasy creatures! he always coos over the way your eyes light up whenever he tells you that it's story time ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)
🍓 - he loves to make your food into fun shapes like stars, hearts, flowers, and smiley faces! he has a special drawer full of sandwich cutters in cute shapes and each morning he makes your pancakes look like animal faces ૮꒰˶> ᴗ <˶꒱ა
💤 - he has a giant hoard of plushies that you love to take naps in! whenever he finds you napping there, he joins you for a nice long rest and you always have sweet dreams together ૮ ˶´ ᵕˋ ˶ა
🧚♀️ - when you're playing outside, he shows you how to make little fairy houses out of sticks and leaves, and leaves tiny handwritten notes for you in the house overnight from the fairies ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭
🍧 - while he tries his best to make sure you eat healthy and don't have too many sugary things, sometimes his sweet tooth takes over... however he always makes sure you brush your teeth extra well after he makes you a sweet treat for being such a sweet baby ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ

🍼 - regresses to the ages of 4-9, but he still prefers to use pacifiers and baby bottles at any age because he likes the texture of the mouthpiece! he's a very talkative kiddo and loves telling stories even if they're a bit fantastical ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
🦄 - he's very imaginative, he loves to make up his own worlds and characters and acts out storylines with his plushies! he plays pretend a lot with the other dragons, and even Darius and Alban compliment him on his creativity (˶◜ᵕ◝˶)
🌈 - he loves to color, but he has a tendency to do so on the walls... Gildas found out that he doesn't really like to color within the lines, so they have abstract painting sessions together to get that creative energy out - ̗̀( ˶'ᵕ'˶) ̖́-
🍬 - when he's little, his sweet tooth is even stronger, so he's always snacking on some fruit snacks to make sure he doesn't eat too much candy! he struggles sometimes to take care of his teeth properly, so he makes sure to use an extra soft brush and bubblegum-flavored toothpaste so his teeth stay shiny and clean without any hassle ٩>ᴗ<)و
🎨 - he loves arts and crafts! his favorite craft is making paper chains shaped like people, and he makes them little fairy wings out of leaves covered in glitter (๑>◡<๑)
👑 - one of his favorite games is dress up! he loves it so much that he can spend hours putting together outfits, picking out accessories, and admiring his own reflection in the mirror, and he'll hardly be bored by the repetition (๑'ᵕ'๑)⸝*
Sexuality ≠ Romantic Orientation. These are my thoughts and opinions on where the dragon children would fall on the Romance Spectrum. I knew the Classic/ Legend of Spyro dragons are 100% underage, but I wasn't sure how old the Skylander dragons were, so for the sake of the headcanons, everyone is a minor.
Thought I’d start making some more headcanons that weren’t requested, but to try and get some interest! This is TLOS version of Spyro
Spyro met you not long after becoming an adult, he had heard rumours from the Guardians that there was another purple dragon spotted somewhere near the cheetah village
He went off to find you, incredibly curious and excited to finally meet another purple dragon like him, hoping that you weren’t evil or at the very least corrupted
When your eyes met, you both froze in awe, unsure what to think of each other, since you knew you had special powers, but didn’t know there was another like you out there due to being alone in the valley most of your life
Spyro introduced himself politely and got your name down, then asked, “how long have you been here for? I have never seen another purple dragon my age before, nor one that is not corrupted by darkness.”
You return with “I have lived here for most of my life, practicing magic on my own but trying to hide from other creatures.” You told him how you thought you were alone, and had seen other dragons, but didn’t see any that looked like you
After months of bonding over being the same type of rare dragon, Spyro trains you in your abilities and shows you new powers you didn’t know you had.
After knowing each other for a while, you notice that Spyro makes small excuses to nuzzle up to you or be close to you as he was showing you things
There was gossip around the other dragons, including the Guardians, that the two of you were going to end up a couple
One day Spyro asked you to his favourite location, just the two of you, and said he had something important to ask you
He starts off with, “Y/n, I know we’ve been friends for a while, but I was wondering…” his cheeks went bright red and you could see him getting shy
“Are you alright, Spyro?” You ask, nudging his chin with your paw, stroking his face for a moment which made him blush even more
“Would you like to… be my mate?” Spyro averted his eyes for a moment before staring into your own eyes with pure emotion, and you could tell he was trying not to get emotional
You blushed yourself when he asked, and was stunned for a moment, trying to think of what to say
You chuckled for a moment, then nodded your head and nuzzled his cheek, which made him close his eyes and almost purr in excitement
“Of course Spyro. You mean so much to me.” There was little else to say now, all you both wanted was to be together
- Dragons from first game could not help Spyro because the laser power affected them every time they tried (the reason we see some again in Gnasty's World)
- I though Brenda and Bryan were the previous rulers of Avalar before knowing it was the texture artist's children names
- Elora is a leader figure in Avalar and her homeworld is Fractured Hills
- Spyro is an artisan dragon and Alban from Dark Hollow is related somehow

I don't have a lot of material on the purple dragon himself, since he's already the star of the show and gets plenty of attention from the fans, so I prefer to focus more on the lesser known characters like the Dragon Elders. That said, I can still come up with a few fun ideas.
- Despite being the only baby for one generation, baby Spyro proved to be a handful from the moment he hatched. From biting and clawing on every piece of furniture he could find, chase after sheeps that were double his size, trying to jump off cliffs to try flying and always getting into some kind of trouble, it's easy to say the Artisans had their hands full in trying to raise him propely. And that wasn't without some help from the other clans to try and rear this little hurricane in the form of a baby dragon.
- Wasn't a picky eater as a baby, but he did get very fussy about one particular thing: he liked his food being 'extra-toasty'. Meaning he would not eat it unless it was charred to a crisp. A fact that deeply annoyed Alvar, but at least he would eat his vegetables. It's also why said dragon won't ever allow him in the kitchen, because he knows something will go wrong no matter what. And especially because he doesn't the little purple drake taste buds.
