All these years later and I still get such a kick of Space Quest IV’s meta approach towards time travelling. I just love that instead of travelling to the year ‘2xxx’ or whatever you’re travelling between games in the series (mos of them sadly never to be far off ‘sequels’ in the series but, hey, at one point you DO travel to Space Quest I!) I definitely have memories of playing SQ4 for the first time at the age of 7 or 8 and my young mind being blown away when the title bar changed from ‘Space Quest IV - Roger Wilco & The Time Rippers’ to ‘Space Quest XII - Vohaul’s Revenge II’. That and being scared shitless by that zombie-esque screaming cyborg.
