Day 15 : Sqounk

Redesigned my sona to reflect the new species I decided for them: A sqounk.

which is, as you might have heard of recently, a fat ugly little cryptid that lives in the woods, cries a lot, and is found in PA.

Which is just literally just a description of me.

My sona here is like a cross between a Sqounk and a Forest Clown.

Also I own a general approximation of both of those shirts.

@dimetrodone *cough* So, during class early in the morning I might’ve gotten a bit too far into the whole Fearsome Critters pokemon game...  A lot more under the cut.

Characters

Protag and family - Lumberjacks apart of a community deep in the woods. What with genetics and all, everyone has big ol’ beards and wear plaid. The protag’s whole dealyo is to meet Paul Bunyan and get their first chin hairs. Antag - Some guy who came in saying he bought all the land and is demanding the lumberjacks continue working for him, but with for less benefits and less replanting of the trees. Gramma - The protag’s grandmother who inspires them to go critter catching and even gives them their first cage trap. Also she’s a little senile and believes Teddy Roosevelt was the second Messiah. 

Mechanics

As mentioned, the main method of catching critters is trapping them. To lure them you have to place their favorite food in the trap, which you learn from the game’s pokedex, Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberyard, With a Few Desert and Mountain Beasts. The protag’s got an uncle who’s a trapper. As you progress through the game you’ll unlock even more methods of catching critters, like a fishnetch for furry trout or a bear pit for Glawackuses.

The Critters

While a few are pictured, I’ll keep it short and only blather about a few special ones. Bigfoots and Thunderbirds are the game’s Pidgey and Rattata, with city slicker cryptozoologists runnin’ around hootin’ and hollerin’ about pterosaours and them giant pithecuses only to be dissappointed that they’re about as common and annoying as racoons and buzzards. Mole men and reptilians were ancient subterranean races far more advanced than us mere humans. Weren’t advanced enough to escape the inevitability of oxygen deprivation though. They can be restored like fossils. A few critters are so ancient and honored as to be called Folkloric Legends. However, there’s a reason why they’re called legendary, so it’ll take a little more thinkin’ to convince them to come with you. Finally, there’s the ultra rare ‘Mew’ of the world, said only to be seen under specific circumstances. Legends say it is so powerful that trying to capture it will set off a terrific event, which will leave the player baffled.
