let me just explain the square cube law really quicko
it's actually quite simple to understand, but almost always forgotten
so if you have four of these, you have a 2 by 2 square
that's 3 dimensional, which means it's 2 by 2 by 2, or 8
so the cube's volume is 4x the individual side
what happens if you double the side size?
shouldn't be that much more massive, right?
the volume is 8 times what it was last time, just because we doubled the size
this is, among other things, why insects can't grow too large. their method of gaining oxygen involves having a lot of surface area, which has a similar equation, and most importantly their exoskeletons would be too difficult to lift if they got too large due to the square cube law
this is also why giants couldnt exist
so what it basically boils down to is this: you can't support something twice the size of a smaller thing with the same proportional mass, because the weight is getting larger at an exponential rate and thus requires an exponential amount of balancing
