So, holy shit, we did it!!!!!
My 2 BFFs, one of whom I’ve known since nursery school and the other since we were 15 -- we’re all turning 40 this year. We just booked a 4 day cruise to Mexico in May. We’re gonna hang out in LA for a few days, and then do the cruise. And like, be 40. Together.
I am SO EXCITED. We’ve talked about this for years, and I never thought it would actually work out. Friend 1 is an ultra wealthy and busy west coast litigation lawyer who we met when she came to Canada as a refugee from El Salvador. She’s undergoing Jungian analysis and is a spiritualist. Friend 2 is a borderline-ex Muslim who used to be an elementary school teacher at a Muslim private school and who stopped speaking to me for several years when I came out, but who apologized and asked forgiveness and eventually quit her job because it was required that she teach intolerance. She struggles like a CHAMP with morality and philosophy, and is one of the most amazing people I know. I love them each, and I love us together so much, and I cannot WAIT to do this with them.
I honestly feel more emotional commitment to them then I ever have for a romantic partner. They shape me, and they know me. This is the best mid-life birthday gift EVER.
