It’s my second challenge in studyblr community after the 100 productivity days, and I found it really amusing how this challenge makes me seriously reflect on last year’s overall. Anyway, thank you @thestudyfeels for proposing such ideas! :) I might take a slightly different way of doing this as I wanted to try something new. Oh, I used the platform Canva to make this.
I’m late to this but I can’t miss it entirely!! Better late than never, right? ♡ Squeeze 2018 is run by @thestudyfeels and I encourage you all to take part - the post is here!! Let’s move into 2019 doing our best!
Day 1: My ten biggest wins this year
Getting a table at a local artist’s alley in June - a dream I’ve had since I was thirteen. Even better, being invited back again in December and being considered a regular for future conventions!
My art improving so drastically through the year - here’s my summary!
Cutting ties with some very toxic people, and taking the high road when they attacked me for doing so.
Travelling to a place that I had never been before, and only finding out where I was going when I was in the airport! (Budapest!)
Travelling outside Europe for the first time, alone, and getting to meet my partners in person for the first time - And attend their wedding (we’re poly-amorous; they’re married and I’m the girlfriend!)
Being discharged from physiotherapy, radiology, and psychology
My haematology appointments being moved from every two months to every three months
Getting into several zines as an artist - a dream I’ve had for years but never thought I’d accomplish. Now look at me - I’m in six zines!
Became friends with some of my biggest inspirations
Started a positivity blog ( @tinybugnotes ) to spread some love.
This year was so full of wins, and I have to admit I love the person I’m growing into. Not perfect, and not quite there yet, but I’m becoming more and more like the person I want to be every day. I think 2018 was a year full of realization and development, chasing my goals and realising what I wanted out of life!
Day 2: the times I set goals for myself and clapped for myself.
challenging myself to fix my feelings of inadequacy in my art by practising anatomy, branching into new areas, solidifying my style, analysing what I liked/disliked, and working on backgrounds. In May I produced an artwork that, for the first time, I felt legitimately proud of - and to this day, I still feel so proud of it.
my goal to do well in my photography exam lead me to an A. This was so important to me - I wanted to prove to myself that just because I’m going slowly doesn’t mean I’m not progressing. My first grade since beating cancer was an A. That’s amazing, and I’m proud.
Day 3: list my three most important awakenings this year.
Sometimes people are committed to misunderstanding you - they don’t want to understand. No amount of energy will force them to understand and it’s better just to walk away.
No dreams are out of reach. I have my whole life ahead of me and even at nineteen, I have done alot with my life. I’m making money from my art and I have found real joy in it. I’m doing great!
It’s better to move slowly than to not move at all. Every day is a chance to move forwards - don’t waste it.
I can’t wait to continue this tomorrow!! ;v; What a lovely idea!
I guess I’m late to the party but I saw some friends posting responses to @thestudyfeels Squeeze 2018 challenge and I felt left out of all the self encouragement so I’m doing it now too lol. Go check it out it’s really cool!
Day One: List your 10 biggest wins this year
1 ~ Started my Masters degree! This was a big deal! I started in April, having made the choice to begin early because my contract at work was coming to an end, and I’d be going back to casual front of house work at the museum. It’s been a ride, doing a masters is no joke but doing it all alone, from home as distance learning, has been challenging. But, my grades show that I’ve put in the work innit.
2 ~ Joined the gym.. I joined in March when it occurred to me that I would be able to get a student discount at my local posh gym, and I don’t regret splashing out for it. I’ve been going on average 3 times a week, and I’ve not built as much muscle as I’d like but I’ve become a lot more confident using the equipment and I’m for sure fitter than ever.
3 ~ Started my own business with Tropic Skincare, which was very unexpected but I went through an emotional thing and just decided the time was right to do something for myself, to earn some extra pocket money with a brand I’ve always loved, and I’ve not looked back since. I’ve smashed my starter goals, won a bag, met some amazing women and I’m so excited to see where it’s going to take me. I enjoy selling the products so so so much its unreal, go on ethical cosmetics.
4 ~ Traveled somewhere new, to Copenhagen with friends for my birthday! I’ve wanted to go for a long time and I loved it, its actually somewhere I can see myself living.
5 ~ Passed my driving test! Never thought this day would come. And I went on my first road trip to Exeter to visit my best best pal.
6 ~ Knitted a scarf, which I now wear, lots. It took a while, but I did it, and now I want to make things for a new baby cousin on the way...
7 ~ Completed a Mindfulness Training Course to teach Mindfulness to Teenagers, and in the process improved my knowledge of mental health and meditation, which was TRULY fascinating. Thanks to my mama for helping me fund this, I got loads out of it.
8 ~ Didn’t die on a camping trip with friends, despite our site getting struck by lightning and my tent and bedding being flooded out while we hid in a local pub. I cried, but boy, did we all laugh a lot that weekend.
9 ~ Learned a lot about prioritising my health over negative relationships!!! Nuff said, just don’t let peoples bs get to you so much man.
10 ~ Expanded my bujoblr, I’ve loved my bullet journal this year, a year which I have described as very “bitty” just because of all the projects I’ve had, but its been really encouraging to be part of this community and share my ideas with others. Thank you to everyone who has ever liked or shared a post, or sent a kind message, it means a lot to this busy little nerd.
I’m feeling so motivated for the new year which I hope will be even happier and healthier! Lets get crackin x
