Gi-hun's character has been reduced to only a shipping machine (for In-ho mostly) and it upsets me because he's such an interesting, complex and realistic character but most of the fanfics about him are only Inhun smut and I cannot find any fics that actually explore his character and his trauma it upsets me

Junho is so overlooked and underrated as a character, seeing people only talk about him to say he's hot upsets me cause he genuinely is part of the most interesting plot line in squid game (the hwang brothers), seeing how he hates his brother for what he does in that island and what he did to him yet still protect his identity cause deep down he still loves his brother so much despite him being a murderer :(

Samee ! He's so much more than being hot, than just a pretty face he literally infiltrated the island just to see where his brother went, the person who gave him a fucking kidney for him to live.

I highly doubt Dae Ho was faking being a marines for multiple reasons -

1. Why would the actor go so in-depth about how marines act with a close friend if Dae Ho was just faking. Kang Ha Neul talked to a close friend who was a marine and made Dae Ho's personality based on that friend, even his hairstyle;

2. Since his introduction, he is seem flinching/hiding himself: He flinched when hearing gunshots, which is obvious; He tries to hide himself when Young-Il was yelling at himself; He flinched when 044 yelled back in Mingle; He was flinching when Young-Mi was asking for her Unnie. Which means, he is a traumatized man, principally anxious towards loud noises;

3. IRL Story Wise, there was a Shooting Incident in 2011 in South Korea Marine Corps, same period Dae Ho was in the marines, if they were to put in the series storyline;

4. At why he was dismissive during his talk with Jung Bae and changed subject, He was FORCED by his father. It is obvious he is not in a good relationship with his father, who possibly physically abused him, and even his mother, who (based on a specific line) isolated Dae Ho from other kids. So, He was forced into the marines, which is already a bad thing, and considering his comments about his past, Dae Ho is not the "conventional man", that means, he was probably bullied or even abused in the marines due to toxic masculinity;

5. As to why he was terrible at using the gun, it can have different reasons: Marines doesn't use a MP5, they use a K2 assault Rifle; Due to his trauma, he was scared of using it; There is a chance that he was Discharged due to Mental Health issues (Such as his Anxiety and PTSD) before he could even learn how to use guns.

I'm a Dae Ho defender and that's all.

I just hate when people say “junho has no impact on inho” or “gihun has no impact on inho” guys… THEY BOTH DO and I will fight anyone who says otherwise

I hate, hate, hate the constant feminization of Gihun by some of the Inhun/457 shippers. I get that it's fun writing kinky stories about men wearing women's underwear or lingerie, and I understand some men enjoy being feminized, but it feels like the fandom is taking it too far, as far as giving Gihun a pussy, and not even as a way to represent trans people or intersex people, but as a tool to further put him in the roll of the "girl". It's used too emphasized that Gihun is the one below and Inho is the one above him. I do agree that Gihun is the bottom in the relationship and he is the submissive one. But what rubs me off the wrong way is the fact that he has to be constantly feminized, given the role of the woman, to emphasize that he is the bottom and the submissive one. The entire thing is just heteronormative, and slightly problematic to me.

I have two confessions:

1:

I don't like any content that makes Gihun a new frontman / working for Inho

It literally goes against his entire character. And the message of squid game

It kinda pushes a narrative of "anyone who dares to try and fight back against a corrupted and unfair system that dehumanises and exploits anyone who isn't rich will eventually be corrupted by said system." Which is a horrible message to send...especially nowadays..

2:

I think the decision to make Inho a tragic character ruins the message of Squid game. The show sends a message about criticizing the rich bastards who take advantage of the poor. I think giving one of those rich bastards a sad backstory that we're supposed to feel bad for ruins that message. He would had been a better character if he was just like that from the beginning.

Player 226(Kim Yeong-Sam) had limitless potential. The writers fumbled a legit villain who could've showcased greed better than any of the finalists. Give him pusher guy's role(Player 96), lean into him and Nam-Gyu teaming up to kill other hiders,make a callback to his beef with Daeho and have him steal the kill from Gihun creating seeds of tension between the two, make him hunt and kill Player 100 as he promises establishing to the audience that big bad was always under our noses. Let him speak more and come into his own. Nah just feed him as a easy kill for Hyun-Ju, that'll make more sense 🤦🏻‍♂️ hate him or not, you can't deny he would've brought some depth to a dull finale. What pisses me off is the amount of focus he has in season 2 just to for all that buildup and hype be flushed down the toilet in season 3.
