ive seen a lot of comparisons of the convict to laika, but i havent seen as much conversation around the overt christian allegory of it

the convict is literally cast out of eden. he is being punished for their crimes. his sacrafice will hopefully save humanity. he is presumed dead for three days before miraculously reappearing alive and whole. he is literally crucified.

one thing that kinda always irks me is that in conversations around white people receiving essentially microaggressions around their culture(eg the whole "loving the japanese idea of americans" or "playing into canadian stereotypes" thing) and laughing it off cause its so cute and funny and use it to downplay the reactions of minorities to their own experiences of racial stereotyping

it fits the same spot as articles claiming "the woke left say this thing is racist, but we asked people from [country where said people are the ethnic majority] and they were fine with it!" (see, every time someone does an anti asian racism)

That kind of racism, that kind of bias, does not touch you when you are a part of the majority. when you have the privilege of being insulated from the micro and macroaggressions of a society that always wants to remind you that even if you are accepted, you are other, you fundamentally dont experience it as the threat. because its not, to you

a japanese person in japan is not racialised. they are in a position of privilege as a majority in a country made for them. they fundamentally do not experience anti asian racism in the same way and shouldnt be considered an authoritative voice

and when you think other nations stereotypes about you are charming, remember that its a privilege
