Beforehand, Odysseus had made a deal with the god of the sky. If Odysseus proved himself righteous, retrieving his kingdom and returning to Ithaca, Zeus would restore Athena's role as the goddess of Wisdom. Of course, Odysseus had won his part of the deal, but the gods were known to be...Unfair.

"FINE. Since you think you've won, I'll return my daughter back to her rightful place on her respected Olympian throne. But I'll need a SACRIFICE for that."

Odysseus felt a shiver go down his spine. Another sacrifice? No, he couldn't do it. He'd already caused enough bloodshed. Eurylochus, his crew... Polites... This was too much to ask for now.

The last time they'd met, Odysseus had fallen. Zeus made all but sure to remind him of that very thing by marking it on his body. The Almighty took, and took, and took, until He had nothing else left to take. Even now. Even now, it did not matter that the king was facing the God King. Odysseus would not fall. Would not hide away. You want true nature, Zeus? THEN FACE WHAT YOU'VE TURNED HIM INTO.

A sacrifice? Just one life to take?
