Ok so human names have meanings, I imagine so do eridian names (if they prefer naming their young after objects/ideas or if they do the son of/daughter of thing doesnt exactly matter for this point).

Grace named Rocky because he needed an individual name to make talking to him feel normal and decided on one based off his apperance, not very creative but he had a lot on his mind. I wonder what Rocky named Grace because while the word grace has a few meanings Rocky could not know that at that time without Grace trying to explain what being graceful was (and he would definatly faceplant and Rocky would have called him clumsy).

Anyways headcanon that Rocky named Grace the eridian word for squishy. You probably dont need to ask why but I'll tell you my reasoning anyways.

Eridians see using echolocation they emit woundwaves and when they bounce off things and back at them they can make a picture of what things look like. Imagine you see like that and all your friends and family are made of pretty solid materials so the sound gets reflected back cleanly aside from their engravings and then you meet a new creature. This one is wearing a suit made of a much more flexable material that you can see through at least the face plate. You can tell by how the sound bounces that this material isnt as hard and neither is the creature underneath (its well possible that your sight might not stop until it hits bones like dolphins)

This might be the first time youve seen a creature like this so maybe you do like Grace did and make up a name for the species (Grace based the name off of their home planet 40 Eridani shortened to Erid) and maybe Rocky did something similar who knows. But you still need to name this one individual creature and sure you could name him based on how he acts but Rocky seems just as silly as Grace and calling him stupid for failures to comunicate would probably be unappreciated once you get home. And he sure is squishy...

Then Simon comes along and why is he wet and what do you mean that he's covered in human blood thats disgust. His name is Bloody, what do you mean I can't just call him Bloody I call you Squishy.
