Red makes entirely too many christmas cookies during the holidays. Both at work and at home.
All the surfaces are covered.
There are sprinkles on the ceiling.
Hylia has forsaken the kitchen.
Nobody can leave the house or the kitchen without a plate of cookies.
Green brings mountains of cookies to after school care.
There's a plate of them at the garage Blue works at.
The antique shop now gives out a cookie with every purchase.
Vio's professors get a cookie every morning.
and when they all come home:
Red is on the floor passed out with crumbs on his face, tummy full of gingerbread and airways full of flour and cinnamon. Heart full of joy.
Fluffvember 15, In the firelight/candlelight / “I love you”
--- --- --- this is late i know, sorry!
Blue got Red settled in bed, turning to Red's extensive candle collection, pulling a lighter off of his desk to light them.
Blue turned back to Red, his beloved all swaddled up in numerous blankets, wet hair still dripping down his face.
"i'm sorry I dragged you through the rain." Blue said, tucking some wet bangs behind Red's ear.
Red sighed. "it's alright, I should have brought an umbrella." he said. and yeah, in hindsight, winter being what it was, snow or rain, an umbrella could be helpful.
"as long as you let me..." Blue trailed off, climbing into Red's bed. Blue waited until he was right beside Red to finish.
"UNDER YOUR UMBERELLA~" he hollered. "ELLA- ELLA- ELLA- AY- AY- AY- AY-"
Red grumbled, dragging Blue down into a laying position.
"you're horrible at singing." Red groaned.
"I thought you liked my singing-" Blue interjected.
Red rolled his eyes. "yeah, when you try."
Blue scoffed, pulling Red ontop of him.
"here, i won't sing any more. So you can still love me," Blue said dramatically.
Red rolled his eyes again. "I love you Blue, you know that." Red said matter-of-factly.
Blue got a playful look on his face. "oh? do i? maybe i need to hear it again to know." "i love you." "really? say it again then."
"i love you."
"hmmm, i don't think i quite get it yet."
"i love you."
"how about one more time?" Blue persuaded, shit eating grin on his face as Red huffed in frustration.
Red got up, sitting back on his knees as he straddled Blue's hips.
"I RED JONES AM FIRMLY IN LOVE WITH BLUE. AND IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT BLUE THEN YOU NEED TO GET YOUR HEARING CHECKED." Red yelled as loud as he could, his voice echoing off the walls.
Blue blushed hard. "okay, okay, I get it."
--- --- ---
Green had overlooked the off-key singing from his brother that came from upstairs. He was too wrapped up in "avoiding" spoilers for the new season of his favourite show to care.
The screaming from Red was what finally got him.
He turned to Vio, comfortably watching a show and drinking his sleepytime tea.
"i will never understand their foreplay." Green said.
Vio spat out his tea.
Fluffvember 27, Gift giving // “This made me think of you”
--- --- ---
Red wobbled his way into the kitchen, this time it was his turn with the blindfold.
"what's this all about?" Red asked, being led to sit down on one of the kitchen bar stools.
"well," Blue paused, something sliding across the kitchen island in front of them, "you've been having a tough time lately, so i wanted to do something for you," he said, undoing the knot in Red's blindfold.
Red gasped, an array of all of his favourite foods in front of him. that, and...
"OH MY GOD ITS A BABY!" Red exclaimed, grabbing at the capybara plushie in front of him and hugging it tightly to his chest. "he's perfect, Blue!"
Blue grinned, scratching the back of his neck. "i knew you'd love it, it made me think of you when i saw it."
from the other room you could faintly hear "LIAR." being yelled by a certain twin brother.
"ignore him. maybe i did get a little help with it. but it was mostly me." Blue scoffed. Blue yelped as Red pulled him into a big hug.
"i love it," Red told him, leaning in to kiss Blue on the cheek. "it's perfect. you're perfect."
Fluffvember 2. Blanket Fort / “Come back to bed”
--- --- --- Exam season. Vio's least favourite season of the year. Not even the April pollen-pocalypse was worse than exam season. because this time drinking Dayquil like it was water couldn't save him. Vio was hunched over his desk, having re-read his same sentence four times by now, none of the words making sense anymore.
Two more hours, Vio only had to study for two more hours. Shadow, however, did not agree with Vio's plans. Shadow groaned, shifting himself in the bed for the eighth time, his phone nearly falling on his face as he glared impatiently at Vio.
"Viooooooooo" Shadow called, hanging his head upside down over the edge of the bed.
"not now, I'm studying." Vio said for the fifteenth time in a row. it sounded robotic at this point. "Vio i'm booooredddd-" Shadow grumbled, sliding himself off the bed and onto the floor.
Vio didn't respond, only flipping the page of his textbook and scribbling down another note. Shadow grumbled again, sitting crosslegged on the floor staring at the clock. 10pm. Vio had been studying for eight hours now. Skipping dinner and any offer of snacks saying he needed to "focus."
Shadow glared at the back of his beloved. Vio didn't even look at him as Shadow marched out of the room. Over the next 20 minutes, Vio struggled not to be distracted as Shadow came in and back out of Vio's room, dragging blankets, pillows, and anything else soft. But what actually what distracted Vio from his studying was when Shadow stopped making the trips to Vio's room. Vio glanced at the clock. He was one hour off of the end of his ten-hour-study-a-thon. Vio looked back at his books, the words on the page not even looking like a recognisable language anymore to him. Vio sighed and shut his textbook. Vio could take a small break to make sure Shadow hadn't broke anything and that Red hadn't set anything on fire yet as he smelled something smokey coming from the kitchen.
Vio made his way downstairs, exhaustion hitting him as he stumbled off the staircase. "Shadow?" Vio called, looking around the empty house. Vio wandered around the house, finding himself in the living room staring at amalgamation of most of his and Shadow's soft things piled in a heap.
Curiosity overtaking him, Vio explored the heap of blankets, finding a cozy interior, with soft fairy lights and some slightly burnt smores. He also found Shadow, curled up around a pillow, with his laptop set up on one of the chairs that held up the blankets.
Shadow looked up to Vio, eyes shining like rich rubies. "you done torturing yourself?" Shadow asked, patting the spot beside himself.
Vio smiled. "i guess i can take a break." Shadow's expression shifted. "i will tie you down, Violet, Hylia help me."
Vio chuckled, "alright, alright," Shadow welcomed his sleepy boyfriend with open arms, wrapping him in a soft blanket and watching the soft grey turn a sweet lilac colour. Shadow pushed the plate of (quite possibly burned) s'mores towards Vio. "eat." he instructed. Vio took one of the treats, examining how the marshmallow was more black than toasty brown. "i thought you could make these in like the microwave or something..." Vio trailed off. Shadow shrugged. "Red brought home the food-safe blowtorch for making crème brûlée tonight." Vio snorted. "Red used fire and didn't burn the house down?" Shadow shifted in his seat. "there may have been some mild charring of the paper towels..." he mentioned. "by the way we now need another roll, the others got... wet..." Vio shook his head, trying not to choke on the molten mallow inside of his s'more. ---
Blue grumbled, leaning against the doorway of his bedroom, squinting at the light from Red's phone flashlight. He shivered in the cold the hallway, tugging the blanket he pulled off the bed around his bare shoulders.
"Red? It's 3am, come back to bed. What the hell are you doing?" he begged, watching his boyfriend creep down the stairs.
"it's really late and Vio hasn't said goodnight yet, i wanna make sure he's okay-" Red whisper-shouted. The kitchen light was still on from when Red helped Shadow burn make s'mores. That wasn't a good sign. Vio was pedantic about not wasting power. Though, as Red crept deeper into the house, soft snores filled the air. Red traced them to the living room. In the middle of the room stood a blanket fort, inside he found Shadow and Vio, dead asleep. Red smiled. "g'night Vi-Vi," he yawned, also whispering a goodnight to Shadow before re-joining his boyfriend in bed, Blue falling back into a deep sleep the second his head hit the pillow.

Fluffvember 5. Apple picking / "oh my gosh you do not know how to cook"
--- --- ---
"We're going to have to deal with that tree soon." Blue mentioned, his words blowing the steam from his tea. He gestured to their backyard, the apple tree overwhelmed by it's own fruit. "the squirrels are starting to get drunk off the fallen ones, those have got to go too," Vio mentioned. Red perked up. "apple pie time?" he asked, excited. "we'll have to see how many are actually still good. Provided there isn't another worm-pocalypse, then yeah." Blue said, remembering the dozen worms that invaded the barrels of apples from last year when they neglected picking. Green left the room temporarily, coming back with a few lacrosse sticks and a hockey stick. "ready." --- Green was a menace to his brother, having been practicing his passes in both sports with the rotten apples, hurtling them at the back of his brother. Red opted to be on the ground rather than try his luck with gravity flying apple carnage on a ladder being a bag holder for Shadow and Vio as the picked from high in the tree where Red couldn't get to. Blue had decided to retaliate against his brother, managing to smush some of the apple chunks into Greens golden hair. Explicatives flew from both of them in the heat of battle, the other three just barely managing not to be caught in the crossfire.
Two hours, two buckets, and three shopping bags full of apples later, Green and Blue were being threatened with a garden hose while Vio and Red dragged the fruit inside. Red dashed excitedly to the basement, pulling oodles of frozen pie dough out of the deep freeze. Red came backup to Vio loading apples into... the bathtub? "we've gotta wash them somehow." Vio argued, "grab a towel." he said, kneeling beside the tub and reaching into the warm apple water, beginning to scrub at them with their produce brush.
The two made quick work of the apple cleaning, Shadow coming in halfway through to grab some towels for the soalked twins.
---
Three whole hours of prepping apples. Peeling, coring, chopping, and dicing. Not to mention measuring the obscene amounts of sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Apple filling was moved into the food-safe buckets, that Red had stolen from his work. Lids were put on tightly and moved to the coolest part of the basement, wherein Red turned his attention to the pie dough. Red prepared all the crusts, relishing in the wonder of working at a bakery for his access to 40 disposable pie tins. He stacked them one on top of the other in the fridge.
---
The next day, at 4am, he started. 15 minutes to preheat. 4 pies in the oven at a time, rotated once throughout the 80 minute cooking period. 40 pies in total. Red lived off of coffee and sugar, again and again, the kitchen and dining room a revolving door of pies in and out of the oven. 14 hours total. Between pies baking, red canned the rest of the filling. boiling jars, partially cooking the mix, killing any pathogens in his way.
---
Green came downstairs just as Blue and Shadow left to deliver the last batch of pies to an old age home down the street. The kitchen was in shambles, jars of pie filling covered the island, smears of said filling on the counter, the stove, the cupboards... ...and Red asleep against the dishwasher. Green smiled. Poor Red had finally crashed, his body finally petering out after having ran on almost nothing all day. "no time to eat, gotta get these in the oven." a stressed Red had argued.
Through his sleep, Red's stomach growled, his expression turning sour.
Green sighed, crouching down to pick Red up off the ground. Sure, Red was heavy, but nothing compared to Green's tolerance of having 5 kindergarteners dog pile on him all at once for a piggy-back. Green carried Red to the couch, leaning him up against some pillows and tucking a throw blanket over him. Green marched back to the kitchen, cleaning up a bit before donning Red's abandoned apron. He fished out a box from the pantry, grabbed one of the last remaining pots from the cupboard and got started on some mac and cheese. Now, Green will admit he got carried away, always competing with his twin, inspiration hit. He added ingredient after ingredient to the pot of instant mac'n'cheese.
Bacon, Mushrooms, Ham, Onions, Pickles, Black olives, Sun-dried tomato,
Green will also admit he should have stopped there. Quit while you're ahead. Leave the sprinkles out of there.
---
"wakey-wakey sleepyhead!" Green cheered, putting a bowl of his mac'n'cheese in Red's lap and handing him a spoon. Red smiled and stretched before being greeted with the abhorrent dish presented to him.
just then, Blue and Shadow came home again, Vio coming downstairs because what was that smell???
Red grimaced, being the first to take a brave bite of Green's concoction as Green dished out some to the rest of the house. Red felt the extreme urge to either gag or spit it out the second it touched his tongue. The brine from the pickles and olives having somehow managed to curdle the powdered cheese, the sprinkles and bacon and mushrooms making it slimy and crunchy and all around bad. Red fought everything in him to swallow. Green bounced on his toes. "how is it?" he asked. Red grimaced again, looking to Blue for help. Blue, however, had taken one sniff and said something before Red could formulate a lie. "Red, honey, you don't have to eat that." Blue said flatly. Red sighing in relief and putting the bowl down on the floor.
"What?" Green squawked. Shadow had also braved a bite, not getting very far before uttering a "Oh my gosh, you do not know how to cook," and struggling to swallow his meager bite of pasta. "I'll call the pizza place," Vio mumbled, already dialing it into his phone. "anyone want apple pie while we wait?" Red asked.
