Vio fiddled with the leather straps that connected the magically cooled metal plates to his leather . Shadow had said that, for more of a dramatic flair, he had to have an outfit change. And when Vio looked in the mirror to see what it looked like, he couldn't exactly say that he didn't like it.
The new outfit was a longer, leather tunic, connected together with clasps and a belt. His long-sleeved undershirt was black, with a rounded neck. The new gloves came up before the elbows. He also had been given new boots, laced up on the sides and a chain around it as well. The chain had no practical use, was just there for looks, but he did enjoy it. The only thing he didn't like was the metal pauldron that depicted a carving of Vaati 's eye symbol. If he really was for the purpose of evil, he supposed that he would have enjoyed that. It shows that the Lord Vaati thought highly enough of him that it was alright with Vio holding it's symbol. It was probably having that as more of a reminder of whose side Vio was now on.
"So," Shadow lazily floated on Vio's right, hat twirling in an invisible wind, "How d'ya like it?"
Vio hummed and tilted his head while looking in the mirror, finger on chin in thought, "I suppose it works well." He looked pretty nice and it felt sturdy and yet comfortable as well. 'Works well' is an understatement. It was almost perfect.
"Well, then," the shade touched the ground and held out a hand, usual smirk in place on his face, "Let's go to the arena now, hmm?" Vio nodded and took Shadow's hand.
He didn't think he could ever get used to shadow traveling. It was so disorienting, going from one way of existence to the next within second. First, you fall, then your body is different- could you even call it a body?- and next thing you know you're being spat out of the ground, your momentum like that of when your bounce gets stolen on a trampoline.
Shadow's hand on his shoulder once again helped keep him on his feet. "Y'ready for this?" The shade asked, golden eyes slitted in the glowing light of the lava river in front of them, and head tilted.
Vio took in a deep breath of the heavy air and breathed out while correcting his standing position. He gave a firm nod.
"Them let's get settled while we wait." Shadow gave Vio's shoulder a pat before walking off to his seat behind a pillar. Vio followed and sat on the throne in the center.
The violet teen was still in the position Zelda had taught him for a while, before it became uncomfortable on the stone, and he shifted to a more comfortable position. He let one foot rest on the other leg and elbow rest on the arm with his head being held up by his hand.
Shadow waved to get Vio's attention. The chaotic shadow held out his hands, pointer fingers towards the other, and head tilted in question. Vio rolled his eyes fondly and leaned forward, hands the same as Shadow's. Might as well play a game of sticks while waiting for the others to arrive. [1]
Shadow pointed his left hand at Vio's. Vio then did his right to Shadow's left. Shadow contemplated his hands for a bit before pointing his right to Vio's right. Vio waved his left to Shadow's left. Shadow's right to Vio's right. Before Vio could do his turn, they heard the thundering of many hinoxen running. Vio quickly sat up, ready for the performance.
Through the haze of the lava, he saw his brothers and the hinoxen fast approaching. When they were nearing the lava river, Vio held up a hand; the signal for them to retreat.
He relaxed fully into his chair, rested the side of one of his feet on the other's knee, and smirked. "Welcome, to my kingdom of fire, my comrades."
Red perked up immediately, "Vio!" Green's still outstretched arms stopped Red from running closer to the edge.
Their leader then lower his arms once he knew no one would be sprinting to their death. "What are you doing over there!" He projected, hands now cupped to his mouth.
"Sitting on a throne?" Vio sassed
Shadow flicked his wrist, summoning his magic to create a smoke screen for a second, before stepping out with a click and smirk. "As well as working with me."
"Bro..." Blue wrinkled his nose in disgust. "No way would you do that." He crossed his arms, stance wide. "You're just an illusion, probably."
Red nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! That must be it! No way would the real Vio join Shadow Link."
Vio sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "No, I am the real Vio. If you're so insistent that I'm not, I challenge Green to a duel to the death."
All three bristled. "Wouldn't that mean that you aren't Vio, then? He'd never suggest this." Green eased his sword out of his sheath.
Vio leveled the other with a bored expression and stood up, grabbing his sword next to his throne. "Except, I am working with Lord Vaati now." He pointed his sword at the leader. "Do you accept?"
Green frowned, a breeze playing with his hair before he sighed in frustration. "If you aren't for Hyrule, you'll just imped us. So," he pointed his sword at Vio, "I accept."
Vio's heart hurt at those words, yet he forced a smug smile to be plastered to his face. "Then let's fight."
With those words, Shadow snapped his fingers and the stone platform previously hidden rose from the lava river.
"Some info you might want to know," Vio strood forward, Green copying, "is that if you get too close to the edge, the stones will shoot fire at you." He hopped down onto the platform and twirled his sword before settling into a fighting stance. "Now, shall we begin."
