hi hello ask meme op!

6. What is their birthday or date of birth OR how old do you see them as in the games you play them in?

Bryn being a few years older than the rest of the Saints is lowkey an important part of why he acts the way he does in the series. I generally place him around 27 in SR1, 32 in SR2, 34 in SRTT, and 42 in SRIV, although I go a little loosey goosey with it depending on whether or not its a world where he's the boss or if he's kira and/or bridget's lieutenant. (shoutout to @gatmora and @writerofblocks respectively)

13. What is their gender/sexuality/romantic orientation/pronouns etc. (either all, or asker specifies)?

Bryn's a cis man, uses he/him pronouns, and identifies as bisexual.

18. Do they have a best/closest friend?

Bridget and Kira :) also Aisha.

Technically Johnny as well, although you'd never be able to tell because they both act like they want to strangle each other every time theyre in the same room

1. Is your Boss's name a secret? Do some people know but not others? Do they use a pseudonym? A nickname?

c.sr1, Bryn is just going by whatever the fuck the other saints call him. Usually that's Playa, but Johnny sometimes calls him Chatty Cathy as a joke.

Ben King is the first person to learn Bryn's name, and naturally gets to be the first person to drop the "what the fuck kind of name is Brynden?" line

most of the Saints just end up calling Bryn "Doc" from sr2 onwards

10. How has your Boss changed throughout the games/years?

he started going back to therapy after sr2

joaks aside, Bryn's most striking change is his attitude shift from sr1 to sr2. He stops dyeing his hair, starts hitting the gym again, and in general stops running from his past. he goes from "playa" to back "doc" and finally manages to move past his ex-fiancee stabbing him and setting their house on fire

15. Are there any small things about them in the canon that you've really run with in your headcanon?

the entire brynben relationship deadass came from the line "let's not fight in front of the kids" that the boss drops to ben in SRIV lmao

19. Does your Boss have a favourite gun or other weapon?

21. Do they have a second-in-command or are all their lieutenants equal?

Technically speaking, Bryn himself is the 2IC for the Saints, w/ either Kira or Bridget being the real boss depending on the universe

12. What first changes when it starts getting serious? For Brynget

It’s the little things, I think.

Even if Bridget doesn’t get out of bed until 9am, she’ll wake up with Bryn around 6am. It’s a lot harder to ignore his alarm when she’s in the same room as it.

Bridget’s bouts of insomnia are easier to fight off when she’s got her own personal space heater wrapped around her like a drunk octopus. Bryn’s less inclined to stay up until 3am working himself to death when Bridget threatens to suplex him if he doesn’t get his ass in bed. Their sleeping schedules get significantly less fucked as a result

Bridget invests in a drain sieve after Bryn starts growing his hair long again. She spends a lot more time picking long red hairs off of herself. She doesn’t mind it, though she does threaten to collect his hair and make a sweater out of it if he keeps forgetting to clean out the drain sieve after he showers.

29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love? For brynget as well =w=

Bridget falls asleep in the car driving home and wakes up in Bryn’s bed in his second story apartment, not remembering how she got there. She rolls over to ask Bryn, who sleepily replies “carried you. Go back to sleep”

The elevator has been broken for two months, so his dumbass hauled her up the stairs instead of waking her up.

Bridget makes Bryn tea when she gets up, to have something to ease them in to the lecture of “lift with your legs, not your back, and also don’t carry me up two flights of stairs just because you don’t want to wake me up.”

The lecture becomes pointless when Bryn realizes that Bridget knows how to make tea exactly how he likes it. He’s too caught up in his heart swelling with affection for the lesson to truly be learned.

The landlord finally gets the elevator fixed after Bryn and Bridget pay him a personal visit. The mutual intimidation of a sleazy little fuck and the subsequent realization that they make quite the power couple only serves to strengthen that bond.

uhhhhhhh brynben facts time:

- Ben lays low at Bryn’s apartment following the Vice Kings mutiny against him

- Ben calls Bryn “Ariel” in his head in SR1 because he doesn’t know Bryn’s name, but he knows Bryn has fiery red hair underneath the shitty black temporary dye/worn out beanie combo he wears at the time

- Ben knows Bryn’s hair is red because he’s seen him with the dye washed out and the beanie off, looking like a sad soaked Elmo as he makes tea after his shower

- speaking of tea, Ben always starts the kettle when he hears Bryn waking up. Ben wakes up around 7, while Bryn’s got a wildly fluctuating schedule

- Brynden doesn’t take care of himself well during SR1. He keeps working himself into exhaustion and going until he literally collapses. In the first week Ben spends at Bryn’s, Bryn passes out hardcore at his home and wakes up in Ben’s car, being driven to the hospital

- Bryn is as about impressed with the situation as you would think. He’s still not talking much, but he does manage to mumble out for Ben to turn the car around

- Ben absolutely does not turn the car around. Bryn finds himself on the receiving end of a lecture about taking care of himself from a Doctor. Bryn drops the facade and tells the doctor that he’s fine, that the dumbass who brought him in panicked, and that he’ll be fine, he just hasn’t been getting a lot of sleep lately

- the Doctor goes mhm and writes him a prescription for sleeping pills, which Bryn balks at because he can write his own goddamn prescription, but takes the prescription anyways because Ben insists they pick it up

- Bryn uses said prescription to drug Price and search his home. Ben only finds this out when Bryn actually starts talking to him following the final attack on Kingdom Come Records

20. Alone, finally!

The apartment looked completely different from what Ben remembered. During his time sheltering with the Playa, the place had been well-kept and cozy. Now it looked like a hurricane had hit it.

Papers were strewn over the floor. Mud had been tracked across the scattered pages. The once well-organized bookshelf now sat empty, with the books tossed around the apartment. Every drawer within sight had been yanked open, their contents scattered.

“Guy must’ve finally fell off the deep end. Shame. He was a good kid.” The landlord had said as he let Ben in the apartment. “You got twenty minutes to get whatever shit you want and leave.”

Ben didn’t need twenty minutes. He picked up the books from the floor and gathered them in a cardboard box. He added Bryn’s favorite mug from the cluttered counter and the first aid kit from the bathroom to the box, before fetching the suitcase from the hidden crawlspace in the closet and an oversized gray hoodie off of the hanger. He was gone from the building as quickly as he had arrived.

Alone and in the comfort of his own home, Ben set the box and suitcase next to his dresser, where they would sit for the next four years undisturbed. The only items he removed from the box were the gray hoodie and single book.

Ben wore a white button-up and navy blazer when he arranged for the book to be delivered to the bedside of the comatose Saint. When he went to sleep that night, he pulled on the gray hoodie and held on to the fading scent of Bryn’s cologne. He closed his eyes and tried to chase away the cold, sinking feeling of being alone.
