Does Free Will Exist?
Free will is a phenomenon in which you, as a thinking entity, have the capability to preform actions on your own outside of environmental interference.
This, I believe, is an interesting one. In which case from a scientific perspective one would have to state that free will does not exist due to there only being forces and atomic interactions. These forces follow distinct vector pathways that are affected by different fields.
This would mean that through the decades of natural formation you formed from simplistic and mechanistic processes. This implies that what ever action in which you preform will be “caused” by some given input.
Now because we are dealing with the brain, it existing inside of our universe with all of these fields and such one can say that our brains are also mechanistic in nature. However there is a small uniqueness to brains in which are different than most things in nature. They send and receive messages to and from different neurons.
This can be analogous to a computer in which a computer has logic gates formed from the connective properties between logical circuit. Now if you were to scale up the abstraction you can see what I mean when I say it is different. You can do amazing things with a computer. Write musical programs, play games, etc. All this from very simple rules. All originating from sending and receiving electrical signals.
So in essence a whole new thing is appearing out of just signals and nodes. And with it comes a whole knew level of complexity and abstraction that has never been seen by the universe....probably. I am going to leave discussing the potential of aliens in a later post. This series of statements also leads into the discussion and topic of consciousness which, again, I will leave for another blog post.
Now do I believe free will exists? Potentially, because there are so many unknowns when it comes to the brain and how it leads to intelligent thought and actions I have no certain answer for you.
Thats going to draw this discussion to a close
remember to always scratch beyond the surface
have a good one.
