Meet Me On the Battlefield

Training. It wasn’t Arrow’s favorite activity in the Super Robot, but it was a necessary one. If she had ever worked with a team before, that wasn’t something she recalled--not that she recalled most things before waking in the Savage Lands, as the Hyper Force called them.

Still, she found herself adjusting quickly, running around the mock battlefield, taking and throwing shots, gaining better control over the energy arrows she shot from her palms. In fact, she could almost say she was enjoying it, really. The thrill of the battle, the called praise from her new friends...

Until movement from the corner of her eye caught her attention. That split-second’s worth of distraction allowed an energy blast to her side to send her flying through the--and straight into a gruff looking and scarred monkey.

Hi!

I’m trying to be a little more active on this blog—I’m kind of bad at it, but I’m working on it!—and one thing I’ve been curious about is icons. Does anyone have any resources for someone with low artistic skills to make icons?

Arrow would be easy enough—recolors of screenshots, though I hesitate to do it that way—but Charlie is… less so. To do any recolors I would have to have more editing skills than I do.

…of course, I could just get by without them, but I like the idea of occasionally replying to asks with them, or having them to head up IC posts.

Also, if anyone has any tips on RPing in the srmthfg community, or on being more active, I’d appreciate it! (I have questions. Like how to go about revealing backstory in an organic way. I more or less understand how to do that in fiction. Less so on a character blog.)

I’ve done some research, but haven’t found anything specific. If no one responds I will continue to search myself and experiment, but it would be nice to have guidance. (But I also understand if you don’t have any, or don’t have the time! These things are subjective.) <3

Charlie beams. “Hi!” She waves erratically. “Wow, you’re super cute!! And I love your name!” One of Charlie’s hands drummed to an unheard beat against her thigh, the human girl seemingly incapable of sitting still. 

Arrow, on the other hand, was more sedate. She gave a somewhat bashful smile. “Hello, Sonata. It’s a pleasure to meet you!”

Welcome! My name is Arrow.

Sadly I don’t have anyway of taking or posting a picture of myself, so I’ll just have to give you a quick description ;) I’m a robotic monkey with green fur and pink eyes. I have a cute charm bracelet with arrows, a bow, a wolf, and the moon on it.

I’m not entirely sure how old I am, because I remember very little before my creation, but, *chuckle* it’s been quite a while since then.

I spend most of my time in the Savage Lands. Crazy, I know, but I enjoy it there! So lush and full of life… and of formless creatures I can use as target practice. ;) When I’m not roaming around there, you can find me in one of the cafes on Shuggazoom, or inside the little spaceship I call home, curled up with a good book. I travel frequently, and love a good adventure!

Of the Hyperforce, I’m probably closest to Nova and Otto, but I’ve no real problem with the others—and vice versa.

Charlie

Hey!

The name’s Charlene, but you can call me Charlie. Not Charles. Char’s okay, I guess? Sprx calls me that sometimes, but he’s still working out a nickname for me, since “Kid” is taken.

I’m 17. Shuggazoomian, though I was raised in a spaceship. Space feels more like home than anywhere else, and I never feel more alive than when I’m sipping through Hyper Space. Sadly, my parents died when I was a kid, leaving me to be raised by my godfather.

Right, appearances. I’m about 5’6 with black hair and blue eyes, and some freckles. I wear whatever’s comfortable, but sometimes I wanna shoot for more badass, you know? (Shit, I probably shouldn’t be swearing. Ugh. You know how hard it is to censor myself around the team??)

I talk a lot. It’s my specialty. So are run-on sentences, and fragments. Really just words. Except for the fact I’m really good at putting my foot in my mouth, so maybe not words exactly? Word vomit, maybe? That’s a talent to put on the resume… (I kid, I kid. I think? Hm.)

Uh. Anyway. So, I like spaceships, kicking ass, and traveling. Oh, and kicking formless a– butt! Oh, I also love music and dancing! Not that I can sing to save my life, or play any instruments. Never been told I couldn’t dance, though, so that’s something.
