It honestly baffles me to see these puny numbers in Senior Ladies in other regions. 30 dancers? 35? We had over 80 girls DANCE (almost 100 were registered) in the Southern Region last year, and we'll probably have more this year. I for one am just plain tired of people taking a dump on my region as "easy" because we have a hell of a lot more competition than others do. Why are our numbers so high? My theory: we're Southern women, and we don't take shit from anyone. You think I should retire? Bless your heart, you think your opinion actually matters!

I think the SRO organizers are under some sort of curse that causes them to forget that any other cities besides Orlando, Washington and Dallas exist (except every fourth year). Like, guys. I understand you want to spread out the burden of travel fairly equally, and that we have a huge region, but for God's sakes, Dallas is not the only city in Texas. Both San Antonio and Houston have more than enough conference infrastructure to handle an Oireachtas. The weirdo fourth year cities have all been really interesting, like NOLA or Atlanta. (GOD I WISH THE OIREACHTAS WAS IN NEW ORLEANS EVERY YEAR.) If I have go to Florida one more time in my life, it'll be too soon. Please, guys. Can y'all burn some sage or call a priest and get rid of this voodoo so we can go someplace that's not named One of Those Cities, please? (Sidebar: however, nothing compares to the misfortunes suffered by the Mid-America organizers, who until recently were under the impression that the whole of their region was a post-nuclear wasteland with the exception of the city of Chicago. Thank god they overcame that with the appearance of the fictional city of Minneapolis this year.)
