The first Girls' Adventure and the last Girls' Adventure.
She's got the Dino-Nerd.
I'm submitting evidence to the jury that Darius is a low-sugar kid.
Check his foods above: while the foods are obviously sparse on Nublar (boy loves his cheese puffs, Yaz throws one of those straight at him and he keeps it), once they're on Mantah Corp's facility, he has more options...and they ain't sugary.
Food in the cave? He's choosing the muffin. Food at breakfast? Eggs and bacon, leave the donuts to the others. The most sugary he gets is ice cream, and I'm sure there was some sugar-free stuff in the fridge.
"But the marshmallows--" yes, there's five people and they're roasting four marshmallows. Guess who's sitting out?
Now, maybe there's a food I'll come across that counters that, but, Darius did check the sugar content on the drink.
The only real contrarian point I can find is that he seems to go for what looks like an obscene mix of whipped cream and caramel at the end of Chaos Theory, but...
...they can make anything sugar-free these days. Or maybe it's part of a diet. I haven't had to maintain sugar levels in a diet, so I'm not clear on everything.
Again, the Gutierrez Family Drama really merits its own story.
-Sammy was shipping meat to the island (that didn't exist)
-Kenji was paying the bills (little slush fund gift from Dad?)
-Mantah Corp Island wasn't discovered until after Yaz moved out (Bumpy wasn't adopted until after Brooklynn died)
-Sammy's family kicked her out after (or at the same time) that Yaz moved out
-Daniel Kon established that the Gutierrezes didn't know where the meat was going all along, so I assume they got dragged into the conspiracy and had to prove their innocence, which might have been complicated because their Daughter Knew. But.
So...yeah. Novel when?
And that state is MISSOURI.
I know I keep coming back to this scene, but that's because it has everything I want: two characters who don't talk about their problems passive-aggressively comparing their problems. They're Employed and they're Minors and that used to be their advantage over all the other Minors, but now it's been six months with the other Minors and they're unemployed and realizing that it might have all been for nothing. Neither of them knows what "Band Geeks" is outside of that it's an episode of Spongebob that the other four sing. Brooklynn doesn't know the video game characters Darius rattles off with Kenji, Yaz doesn't know the books Ben's referencing, neither of them knows how to identify which plants are edible like Sammy does, and they've been in the audience for almost every single Movie Night while the other four are up there performing.
And they hate each other.
She can have that title for six and a half years but then she's gonna have to give it back.
you look me in the eye and tell me this girl didn't deserve to have glasses
