Sarazanmai was surprisingly really goddamn good, especially given how absurdly goddamn weird its premise is.
But far and away the best part of the series was the Gay Otter Boys, impersonating cops, confessing to murder through song-and-dance every single episode. Every episode! In the middle of the cop precinct. In the middle of a debriefing. Breaking out into a 2-minute showtune routine that boils down to a puntastic confession of “lol yeah we killed that guy!”
No explanation given. None. Nothing. I can only guess that all the other cops are just so thoroughly sick of this shit they don’t bother taking it seriously. Like when the captain says “there’s been a murder” every other cop just clutches their coffee cup and braces and prepares for the two rookie idiots in back to launch into their fucking musical number where they act like they murdered a guy again.
Like has no one pulled them aside and said “guys you can’t confess to murder every single day in the daily debriefing someone is gonna take you seriously” and Reo and Mabu, with 20 dead bodies in their closet, are just “oh did people think we weren’t serious?”
