Ssalefish GSO First Look #73 for 8.22.18
Whelp, I wasn’t planning on it when I got up yesterday morning, but I bought a new car last night! About three weeks ago, I got in what seemed at first to be a fender-bender while Bret & I were running to the ATM to finish up buying a collection. Once the repairs were underway, the body shop discovered that the damage was more severe than they first thought and my poor 2010 manual transmission Fit was officially totaled! So now I have a 2017 automatic transmission Fit! Don’t let the small size fool you, I can get 14 long boxes in the back!

Fantastic Four #1
Welcome back to a New Comic Wednesday release! We are all a little tired here at Ssalefish Greensboro on account of our special midnight opening that we hosted for the release of the new Fantastic Four number 1! This would be a perfect jumping on place for new readers to the FF or Marvel Universe.
Our creative team this time consists of Dan Slott, Sara Pichelli, Elisabetta D’Amico, and Marte Gracia. Here at Ssalefish we had over 23 different variant covers, so make sure to check out your options when picking up your book!

Ssalefish GSO First Look #71 for 8.8.18
I had the pleasure today of having lunch with my old friend Joe Scott, proprietor of Geeksboro Battle Pub, formerly Geeksboro Coffee & Beverage Company, formerly Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema, now located across from Target at 2618 Lawndale Drive. Sampling the Lady Vengeance (tatter tots, teriyaki tri tip steak, sriracha), the pimento beer cheese with homemade pita chips, and the big ol’ bacon wrapped meatball, and everything was spot on!
For lunch, dinner, brunch, or a nightcap, it will definitely be a new go to restaurant for me as well as continuing on as the beacon of the nerd culture community in the Gate City! We’ll be installing a spinner rack to keep stocked with lots of first issues to keep you busy while you wait for your grub or beverage, and we’ll be working with Joe and his new partner Steven on more comic-centric programming in the months to come.
Speaking of comic programming, I took some time last Saturday to beef up our events page here on the site with all of our likely convention appearances through the end of the year as well as our plans for Batman Day, 24 Hour Comics Day, and Halloween ComicFest!

I’m going to be honest with you, I didn’t have much knowledge of the whole MOTU besides the whole Prince Adam = He-man and Skeletor’s laugh, that used to haunt my every waking moment. For one, I had NO CLUE that Battle Cat could talk! Or even that his name was Battle Cat!?! And Man-At-Arms is an actual name of a character! What a world that we live in! Unfortunately this post is only going to cover part 1 of 3, but I implore you to check out the whole series, our listing can be found at the bottom of this post.

Ssalefish GSO First Look #69 for 7.25.18
As usual, there’s a LOT going on this week!
First off, Jay & I made a house call this Sunday and ended up buying 3 long boxes or trades and hardcovers, a dozen statues, and over 5,000 comics! We’ve been posting several pictures of the books on our Instagram & Facebook pages, and the statues are already in the cases and graphic novels are out on the shelves, but it’s going to take us weeks to completely process everything, from the backwall down to dollar books.
It amazes me looking at how quickly we got the deal, the largest we’ve ever made, done, and how much more confident we were in doing it vs. our very first deal, where neither myself or Jay could even sleep the night before our negotiations.
Secondly, Comic Con International in San Diego is taking place this weekend, which means a TON of new comic announcements, like Grant Morrison taking over Green Lantern with a new first issue!
