i lied the real funniest part of sssg is at the end when du yixin is introducing ying sheng to all his school friends and ying sheng growls at one of them and du yixin is like haha hes not good with strangers ^_^ and all his classmates are like um im not sure thats what those words mean in that order actually

no but I was thinking about the very different ways ying sheng and du yixin struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other like du yixin accepts pretty much immediately that he cares very deeply for ying sheng but pretty much the only way he can verbalize it is “i dont want him to die” until he accepts that what hes been feeling is romantic and that his superficial wish for a girlfriend has probably been a more broad desire to fall in love, to feel quote unquote normal by experiencing romance as all his peers seem to be and when he does eventually manifest those feelings for a man he ends up suppressing them out of that same desire for normalcy to the point where the only thing that allows him to start coming to terms with himself is being confronted with the reality that his denial of his own feelings is hurting ying sheng
