Large pocket altar pt.1

I wanted to show off the pocket altar I’m working on, it’s bigger than an actual “pocket sized” altar it very much fits in a bag but I wanted it to fit my prayer cards in the frames.

It’s my first hand sewing project and it’s like 90% done. It has a pocket at the bottom that hold a small prayer book, and a rosary, then the frames can hold prayer cards that I can take in and out, the charms in the middle include a Celtic cross, St. Patrick, St. Dymphna, St. Cecilia (my patron saint), St. Michael the Archangel, St. Teresa of Ávila, and a Miraculous Metal. The frames have the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Michael the Archangel, Our Lady of Guadeloupe, and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The cord on the outside to help keep it together is the liturgical colors of the year.

I still need to put ribbon around the edges so they don’t fray but that’s gonna have to be something my boyfriend helps me with.

Master Study

A watercolor master study of Onorio Marinari's "St Cecily" in oil. I really liked the expression of exasperation on her face and the fetching green cloth adorning her. It's been a while since I've painted, and I could definitely feel the rust flaking off me during this one 😅

I should be posting regularly now as I am established in my new job now and have figured out my schedule for creative pursuits (since I am no longer able to attend my art group at the library 🥺).
