Bruh, I was so young when I was originally obsessed w st that I wasn’t even involved in the fandom or anything and now I’m finding out ab all the stuff. What did Noah schnapp do 😭😭😭

ok so basically in 2023 he was in some cafe holding up stickers saying "zionism is sexy" and some other stuff (broad public daylight btw 💔) i think he was doing promo for some friend or smth. then everyone obviously got on his ass for it, he gave a flimsy apology but it feels like the whole fandom has forgotten about it and has gone back to adoring him???

so im making a stranger things confession blog called @bylerconfessions based off of @tea-time-with-london's old blog. while the focus of it will be byler, anything regarding the st community will be accepted.

my only rule is nothing nfsw, anything else is fine. you can be as aggressive as you want in ur ask, be a no1 hater and talk about issues that everyone else ignores! you can even name-drop people, but i don't advise that cause i'm trying not to get into 10 fights.

Love byler but I’m considering leaving tumblr or becoming an anti because of house insufferable all the fans are. Either they’re entitled 14 yr olds who should be going outside instead of staring at tumblr 24/7 or they’re late 20’s white people who have nothing better to do like what? No more whimsy in the Byler fandom I’m afraid.

that's defo part of the reason why i left tumblr for a while but if you do still hold this view, i hope u know that you should probably try separate the fandom from the ship rather than fulling going anti, kinda like an art/artist dilemma.

Byler nation victimizes itself too much and it’s lowkey annoying af. Milevens supporting their own ship is not homophobic and overreacting diminishes actual hate that is being spread- not by milevens, but my homophobic stranger things fans.

maybe it's because i wasn't a major blog, but i never received even a fraction of the hate that SOME (!!!) bylers make it out to be. to be fair, i think most of the "if you hate byler you're homophobic" stuff is just jokes but if there are people out there who genuinely think that, please take a breather 😓

edit: i kinda take back what i say tbh mainly because of my long breaks from tumblr, but now i'm remembering the hate anons many ppl used to get. however, i do think this has resulted in some of the community overreacting in what they'd consider hate and what'd be genuine criticism.

REAL. where did this crazy idea that the duffers are some progressive radicals who are primarily writing a subversive queer text. obviously they are liberal people who wanted to include some queer characters in their show (will, mike, robin, vickie). But they’re still primarily writing a nostalgic 80s monster show that appeals to a wide audience. S5 will be gay, but not THAT gay.

i think it ties into the whole over-analysing, rose-tinted glasses type view so many bylers have where they think every little detail is about byler, even scenes where they are nowhere to be seen
