St. Sava
St. Sava Church, Belgrade, Serbia (by Chronis Yan)
Since it's the holidays:
A year and a half ago, on Easter day, my church burned down. The building was over a century and a half old, had several national/city landmark and historical place statuses, and was absolutely beautiful. It was also the ONLY Serbian Christian Orthodox church writhing driving distance for my family, a trip off about two hours. Since childhood, that church had been ings of the centers of Serbian-American culture for me, one of the most reliable places in the country to go and find other Serbs and our culture. I myself am not very religious, but this church has been a cultural cornerstone to me for most off my life. In the year and a half since it burned down (likely due to arson, though officials disagree), the church has received minimal assistance for rebuilding this historic landmark from the government and insurance, and fundraising has had minimal headway.
Our Christmas, Božić, is on January 7th, and regardless of your belief system, I ask that you take a look at the story and history of the Trinity Chapel Complex, the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Sveti Sava, and donate to our renovation programs if you can. We've been hosting divine services in other churches that have been kind and enough to allow such since the fire, but we'd love to have the cathedral itself restored.
If you can't donate, it's enough to just read and reblog. If you can donate, even just a few dollars, I'd really appreciate it.

I may not be religious but this is one of my favourite places
Aj, pa nek je sa srećom!
ST. SAVA CHURCH - SAVINAC was built in 1819, with support of Princ Milos Obrenovic. It was built not far from where it is believed that it was formerly a medieval Savinac monastery, dating back to the Nemanjic's reign. But that's not all.
