Who: Jesse and Harmony
When: March 21, late night, after the curtain closed.
Where: Backstage
What: Jesse and Harmony make up for the fight they had and regain their friendship.
Jesse glanced at Harmony’s vanity where he saw her reflection in the mirror. He looked away before she could notice. Their first show ended and most people were already out of costume and off to celebrate. Jesse stayed behind for a little while longer since he had nowhere else to go. He didn’t know why Harmony had been there still, but it must have been fate and Jesse was a strong believer of that so he took advantage of the situation. He couldn’t go through the show without his best friend by his side. He needed to fix things. He inhaled then exhaled while he leaned over his Vanity. He looked at the distracted Harmony again then stood up tall and made his way over to her direction. “Hey.” He said softly with a pause. “Can I talk to you?”
Harmony was taking her time. Despite a nice afternoon with Mandy at the performance circle and a great show, she really could not shake the upset feelings over Jesse. She had wanted a few minutes to be more by herself before she joined everyone celebrating. Harmony had hoped Jesse would be gone because she figured he did not want to talk to her anymore. She heard his voice and was startled to see him but took a deep breath and turned to look at him. “Yeah,” She nodded, “I would like that.”
Jesse spoke up. “I don’t want to do this anymore.” He let out a sigh with a shake to his head. “I don’t want to go through our first performance together hating each other.” He was frowning, and he took a seat beside her at the empty chair. “We are supposed to be best friends I thought.” The next part was hard to say. He practically had to choke it out. But he knew this was what she wanted to hear. “I was being stupid. You’re right.”
Harmony listened to him quietly, taking in what he was saying. “Thank you, Jesse,” She nodded, “I don’t want to hate you either. We are best friends.” She played with the cleansing cloth in her hand for a minute before speaking again. “I maybe lost it a little,” She looked back at him, “I still think you overreacted but I should have talked to you in a better way instead of flying off the handle.” Harmony sighed, “We’re both kind of stupid, aren’t we?”
Jesse admitted, ”And I should have just talked to you to begin with instead of bringing you up to everyone. I know I tend to over react. Being a drama queen is in my blood.” Jesse shrugged, and couldn’t help but show a little smile when Harmony admitted her stupidity along with his. “We are. And I promise, the next time i’m being stupid, I’ll just listen to you.” He held out his pinky to swear to her as if the two of them were kids on a play ground again. “Pinky swear.”
Harmony linked her pinky with his and shook it a little, "Pinky swear. And don't stop being a drama queen because that's half the reason I like you." While pulling her costume shoes off and putting on her sneakers she turned her head to speak, "You did really great tonight. I'm proud of you." Harmony was overjoyed with how well everyone did, especially Jesse and Blaine who she had felt like cheerleaders for throughout the whole process.
Jesse smiled. "And so did you. Harmony you were amazing!" He said with great enthusiasm. He was just happy to have her back. The whole cast did great this first night. It was like some kind of miracle. He probably just didn't have enough faith in everyone to think they could actually pull it off. But even without his faith, they all did. "So then... what are your plans now?" He didn't seem to have any. And now that they were speaking again the first thing he wanted to do was hang around her.
Harmony said, "I know some of the cast is having an opening night party so I was planning on going there," She stood up and offered her hand to help him up, "Do you wanna come?" Once he stood up she let his hand go and slipped her arm under his arm, "Cosette is a proper French lady and needs an escort."
Jesse quirked his brows. He heard whispers of the party, but he didn't really think he belonged given the situation. But now that was all fixed, so, it could be a happy ending after all. With a few tensions in the room but still. Those would probably always be there. "Of course" he smiled then stood up with her, allowing Harmony to slip her arm under his. "Right. She can't just show up at the party alone. Because that would be pitiful to see." He chuckled. "It would be of great honor to escort the lady." His lip curled upward into a smirk.
Harmony laughed at Jesse playing along, "Thank you, kind sir." It was nice that they could fall back into their friendship so quickly. "Maybe you aren't so bad, Inspector Javert." She started leading them to the door, "I promise I'll make sure everyone knows we aren't mad at each other anymore so they'll back off, okay? And I think you still need to apologize to Kurt and Shay too. But we'll figure out how to do that after the show is over, okay?"
Jesse nodded. "Smart idea. I have the feeling we're going to get a lot of weird looks walking through that door like this. And apologize to them?!" He still didn't believe he needed to, but Jesse wouldn't let this argument get between heir friendship for the second time. "I'll consider it. Now let's not worry about that and just go celebrate."
