If the TikTok ban makes America and other countries want to get to know each other’s struggles and lifestyles without the messiness of hate-spewing propaganda, why would you not want that?
As an American, I want to understand cultures of other countries as much as I want them to understand that I’m not a stupidly loud, privilege-waving white woman who thinks she’s entitled to everything that isn’t my own. I’m just a woman with kids trying to keep my babies alive, keep my daughter out of harms way, and my son to be a good man one day.
It’s me your old pal Stabby! And i come bearing a real special treat!
I don’t know how many of you (my followers) are into Total Drama but my good friend Oak opened my eyes to this ship and I just had to write something for it!
So without further ado here’s an Evler (Eva x Tyler) fic!
Before we begin i’d like to say this ship was made possible by @ongaku-ato-kakikomi a.k.a Oak!
And be sure to check her ongoing story, Slaves of Drama! It’s an amazing rewrite of Total Drama that’s filled with more action, romance, and of course, drama! It includes all of your favorite character and then some. And the best part is that you, the reader, get to be a part of the kooky and wild antics of being on a crazy reality show! If you wanna give it a read, i’ll leave the link below!
With all the birds chirping and the sun shining overhead, even Eva had to admit it was a beautiful day. And what a better way to spend such a great day than going for a jog through the local park!
Standing at the park entrance, Eva’s eyes glided over the scenery. She noticed that some kids were running around a jungle gym while parents sat idly by on nearby benches, chatting amongst themselves. She spotted a few couples walking hand in hand around the park and some people walking their dogs. Overall there was quite a bit of foot traffic.
‘Seems like I wasn’t the only one who thought it was a great day to be out and about,’ Eva thought almost bitterly before she sighed. She silently thanked whatever deity was out there that the back was relatively large.
Stepping off to the side, Eva began to do some small stretches to warm up. After a few minutes of warming up, she decided she was ready to go. Pulling out a small MP3 from her black shorts pocket along with her earbuds, she turns her MP3 on before putting it securely into the armband that she had on. After hooking everything up she pressed the small button on her earbud wire.
A small smile graced her face as a poppy tune played in her ears. She takes a deep breath before she takes off down the path.
After about an hour or so of running on a twisting and curving path through the park’s lightly forested landscape, Eva had made her way down to the part of the park that many people loved to play sports at. And at the moment there were quite a bit of people that seemed to be playing a rousing game of soccer. Even though she was on the outskirts of the area, Eva could hear their cheers and screams over her music as someone made a goal.
She continued on the path for a while, but after passing a large oak tree she decided to take a break. Placing her hands on her hips as she takes a moment to catch her breath. Eva takes a deep breath before she starts to stretch again. As she bends down slightly she notices her shoes untied. Grumbling a bit, she goes to reach down to retie it. Before she can, however, something hits her head hard harshly with a resounding WHACK!
“Ah son of a-!” Eva groans out as she stumbles a bit before she holds her head in pain.
She rubs her head before she looks around for whatever had hit her. Eva’s pain quickly turns into anger, however, when she notices a stray soccer ball a little ways away in front of her. She pulls out her earbuds and unhooks them before stuffing them into her pocket. She picks up the ball as her face contorts in anger, ready to throw the ball into who-ever-hit-her’s face.
A voice from her left shouts, “Oh man, I am SO sorry!”
She turns toward them, ready to blast them in the face with the soccer ball. But her anger dies out when she sees who it is.
“Oh hey, Eva!” Tyler’s eyes light up upon seeing her.
Eva’s face turns red before she scowls and relaxes her body, “Hi Tyler.”
“I’m so sorry about hitting you! I guess I must have kicked it too hard,” Tyler says sheepishly and smiles before it turns into a frown, “I didn’t hurt you did I?”
She grumbles out as a blush begins to start over her face, “No I’m okay.”
Tyler didn’t look convinced, “Are you sure? I’ve been hit in the head a few times with a ball and none of them have ever felt good.”
Eva’s blush makes her ears burn as he continues to worry over her, “Yes, I’m positive!”
She looks down at her feet trying to ignore his cute, concerned face as her blush threatens to take over her entire face. Remembering she’s holding the object that hit her, clears her throat and looks back up at him, “Um anyway, here’s your ball.” Eva holds the ball out to him.
“Oh yeah! Thanks, Eva!” Tyler goes to grab it but before he can the tip of his shoe collides with the edge of the sidewalk, causing him to trip.
Tyler gasps and squeezes his eyes shut as he prepares to collide face-first into the hard cement. The pain never comes, however. He feels pressure on his shoulders and opens his eyes to see that he’s staring at the ground. Upon looking up, however, all he can see is the familiar blue color of Eva’s shirt. Realization dawns on him that Eva had prevented him from falling.
“Hey, you should have watched where you’re going a little better. You could have hurt yourself, idiot!” Eva scolds as she helps Tyler sit up straight. Eva crosses her arms as she looks at him, waiting for a response.
Tyler couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed but also a little happy that he didn’t get hurt again. He goes to respond but stops short when his eyes meet her crossed arms. His cheeks heat up when he notices how the muscles in her arms flex as she squeezes them. He starts to daydream a bit just looking at her.
Eva cocks a brow at his lack of response, before she snaps her fingers in his face, “Hello?! Earth to Tyler! I know you don’t have a concussion because you didn’t bite the sidewalk.”
Her snapping knocks him out of his dreamy stupor before his face blossoms into a blush. He rubs his neck sheepishly, “O-oh! Uh, Sorry Eva!” He gives her a smile before continuing, “Thanks for catching me! I don’t think my nose can handle another nose bleed!”
Eva could feel her face heat before she furrowed her brow and looked away, “Tch. It was nothing. You have to be more careful though.”
Tyler laughs, “Yeah, yeah I know I know,” He looks around for a moment before he notices the discarded soccerball to his left. He picks it up before standing back up. Eva and Tyler both look at anything other than each other before Tyler speaks.
“Well I better get going before my friends send out a search party,” Tyler laughs a little before it dies down. He didn’t want to go but his friends were probably worried about him being gone so long.
Eva snorts, “Yeah I guess you should…” She didn’t want him to leave yet, but she wasn’t going to say anything about it.
Tyler fumbles with the soccer ball before he turns to leave. He turns around slightly to look at Eva, “See ya later Eva,” He gives her a small almost sad smile before he turns back around.
Eva watches him leave before she mutters out a quiet, “Yeah see ya later I guess,” She sighs before reaches into her pocket to grab her earbuds out. She plugs them into her MP3 that was still on her arm and puts the buds into her ears. Just before she hits play she hears someone call out her name.
“Huh?” Eva pulls an earbud out and turns to her left.
“Eva, wait!” It’s Tyler and he’s running back towards her. He drops the soccer ball before he hunches over, trying to catch his breath.
Eva cocks a brow and looks at him confused, “Are you okay?”
He moves his head to look at her before he waves his hand dismissively, “Yeah,” He pants out, “I’m fine.”
Eva shakes his head at him as the corners of her lips twitch, “You didn’t even run that far and you’re this tired out? You really need to work on your cardio.”
Tyler shoots up, slightly offended, “Hey! I’ll have you know that I’m perfectly in shape!” And before Eva can say anything, Tyler starts flexing his arms. “Check these babies out!”
Eva’s entire body flushes red hot and her eyebrows shoot up as she stares almost slack-jawed at him. She almost wants to drool but she shakes her head and peels her eyes away. She scowls before putting her earbud back in. She turns to leave, “That’s it I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
Eva starts to walk away from Tyler. He stops flexing, “Wait what?” He turns to look at her retreating form and scrambles have her, “Hey! Wait! Come back!”
She keeps walking, slightly picking up speed as she grumbles under her breath as her blush fades away.
“Eva, stop and let me say something!” Tyler pleads from behind her.
Eva halts and contemplates walking away again before she sighs. She turns around and crosses her arms. She cocks a brow at him as he comically has to “put on his brakes” to stop himself from crashing into her. “Alright, I’m listening.”
Tyler looks at her face and feels a bit small all of a sudden at her stare, “W-well, I, uh you see I-” Sweat starts to accumulate on his brow as he continues to stutter. He could feel his cheeks start to burn as his confidence starts to die.
Tyler’s throat felt dry as he tried his absolute best not to look at her face and at her pretty brown eyes that were currently staring right him and-
Tyler could feel himself grow even hotter and the tips of his ears were practically on fire at the thought. He might as well start melting right then and there.
Eva could only continue to stare as he seemed to have a mini-meltdown in front of her. She watched as he looked at anything but her as he tried to speak. She was suddenly self-conscious of herself at the moment, as she remembered her therapist telling her that her body language could come off as a bit intimidating.
She took a deep breath before she uncrossed her arms. Eva tried to soften her face as much as possible, “Tyler, just take a deep breath okay? You’re starting to freak me out here.”
She lightly placed her hand on his shoulder before trying to smile. Her lips twitched and it looked more like a grimace than anything.
However, Tyler didn’t seem to mind as his eyes snapped to the hand on his shoulder. He followed it up to meet her gaze. Tyler swallowed hard at Eva’s semi-soft facial expression before he took her advice.
Closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath. Once he opened his eyes again, he smiled, “Thanks, Eva…”
Her face blossomed into a light blush before she coughed and removed her hand from his shoulder. She let her arms hang to her sides, trying to fight the urge to cross them.
“Yeah, it’s not a problem….” She moved some stray hair behind her ear, “What was it you wanted to tell me?”
Tyler furrowed his brows confused for a second, before realization hit him, “Oh yeah! I wanted to ask you if you wanted to play soccer with me and my friends!”
Eva’s eyes widened as she was taken back from his question, “Uh what?”
Tyler laughed at her incredulous expression before repeating, “I asked if you wanted to play soccer with me and my friends.”
Eva’s brow furrowed, she could feel her insecurity bubbling up, “I heard what you said but….why?”
Tyler cocked his head to the side, “What do you mean ‘why?’”
Eva looked to the side and she suddenly felt very small, “I mean why would you want me to come and play with you? Everyone thinks I’m a total spaz.”
Tyler looked at her for a moment before laughing. Eva could feel the heat rise to her face as irritation and slight hurt bubbled up inside of her, “What’s so funny?!”
Tyler wiped a fake tear from his eye before he smiles at her, “Eva, I don’t think you’re a spaz.”
Eva’s eyes widened before she blushed at his admittance, “R-really?”
Tyler nods before continuing, “I mean you do get pretty competitive sometimes, but that's to be expected when you’re so good at sports! You’d probably kick everyone’s butt because you’re like the most athletic person I’ve ever met!” He gives her a smile and motions to himself, “Well besides me of course.” Then he whispers under his breath as his cheeks heat up, “And besides, it’ll give me a chance to hang out with you more.”
The butterflies in Eva’s stomach are going crazy at this point. She doesn’t know whether or not to throw up or kiss Tyler right then and there. But she wills herself to calm down before she does anything crazy. Unfortunately, she can’t contain the heat that takes over her face. She furrows her brow though because she couldn’t quite hear the last part he said. She leans in closer to him, “What was that last part? I didn’t hear you.”
Tyler’s face turns crimson as he starts to wildly wave his arms in front of himself, “N-Nothing! I didn’t say anything!”
She eyes him skeptically before sighing. She wants to say no so she can go back to jogging, but...
Something about the slight tilt of his head and the look in his eye makes her feel like she can’t say no to him. And she decides that she can’t. She gives the offer a final thought, seeing as the pros of the situation outweigh the cons. The pros being that she could probably school a bunch of people at a game of soccer, be able to still get some exercise, and… and spend some time with Tyler. The thought of hanging out with Tyler makes her stomach twist and for the life of her, Eva can’t think of a single con of the situation.
Eva swallows and sighs, “Alright.”
Tyler’s eyes light up, “Alright what?”
She looks at him before looking away and mumbles, “I’ll go and play soccer with you and you're friends…”
Tyler’s entire being practically lights up at her agreement, “For real?! Awesome!”
Eva blushes and scowls as she crosses her arms, “Just don’t make me regret it!”
Tyler laughs as he picks up the soccer ball near their feet, “You won’t I promise!”
He grabs her hand pulls her, “Come on let’s go!”
Eva’s eyes widened as Tyler begins to drag her away, and she complies. As he pulls her along towards, his friends she tries desperately to ignore the feeling of his hand holding hers.
She can feel her hand start to sweat from nerves and the butterflies start to flutter again in her stomach.
As they approach his friends, however, he let’s go and she feels a little sad at the loss of contact.
The group of people in front of her look incredibly bored. Some were sitting on the ground, basking in the sun’s rays while others seemed to be content chatting amongst themselves laughing. One of them noticed their arrival and called out, “There you are Tyler! We were starting to get worried!”
Sudden everyone’s attention is snapped to them and all of a sudden they’re almost swarmed.
Derek, who Eva recognizes from wrestling, asks “What the heck took you so long, man? We were gonna send a search party after you!”
Tyler rubs his neck and he chuckles nervously, “Well you see I-”
Eva rolls her eyes before crossing her arms, “He hit me in the head with the soccer ball.”
Everyone’s attention is suddenly placed on Eva, and it makes her feel a bit shy. But before she could say anything, a girl with brown hair that was pulled up into a ponytail, who Eva recognizes as Alex from their shared French class, speaks up.
“What do you mean he hit you with a soccer ball?!” She exclaims.
“Are you okay??” Another voice asks from Alex’s left. Eva’s eyes snap to another familiar person as she remembers them passing her in the hallways coming from the art room. She wracks her brain for their name, before Tyler buts in.
“Trust me, Flynn. I’d have to hit Eva way harder than I did to do any damage. Eva is way too tough!” Tyler beams.
Eva’s face burns from his compliment as she grumbles. Flynn and Alex notice her blush and they look at the pair before looking at each other. They both give out a giggle and start whispering about how cute they are together.
Someone clears their throat to get everyone’s attention, “Well I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready to play another game!”
Lots of others shout their agreements before everyone breaks out into groups. Eva stands alone, unsure of what to do.
“Come on Eva you can be on our team!” Alex shouts at her while Flynn waves at her wildly.
Their team cheers while some of the others on the other team, who know how good Eva is, groan, knowing that they’re most likely going to get their asses handed to them.
Eva watches as everyone gets into their teams. A smile starts on her face before Tyler calls her over.
“Coming!” Eva shouts before catching up with her team.
She ends up between Flynn and Alex, the latter adjusts their glasses before asking, “Are you sure you’re okay? Getting hit in the head isn’t fun.”
Alex nods her head in agreement. Both Flynn and Alex are eyeing Eva in concern. Eva looks up and makes eye contact with Tyler as he gets ready to kick the ball. They both share a smile before Eva nods her head, “Yeah I’m great.”
And she was.
Because after all, it was a great day to be at the park.
