Another 40 years on, Emerald is living in a care home, when the mysterious old woman finally closes the distance between them. And, Emerald is magically transported back to 2024, where she waves at her past self and the Inspector to warn them to avoid the faerie ring.

At the same moment, the Inspector recalls his trial before the Unseelie Court, the time loop is broken and he avoids stepping into the faerie ring, meaning Emerald never lived out her life and prevented Aindrea MacRaibert from wrecking the UK. Oops!

It’s too bad the programme has yet to get back to that point
