What did that even mean? It was a stray thought that went through his mind as his hand hovered just out of reach from where it was meant to be. He’d wanted so much to caress her cheek once last time to let her know that everything will be alright but at the gesture was there. Perhaps the distance between them had always been there and try as they might neither one of them could hold onto the other for long.
Is this what happens to soulmates?

As the pained eyes of his love vanished before him all around him shifted into a lonely place though beautiful it seemed he was the only soul there. The forest stretched out before him and at his side a solitary campsite with a cooking fire and a decent tent. He must content himself with the fact that it could have been a lot worse than isolation.
