Trudie Dawn Smith 'No Pop' Debut Single Announced Released March 10th 2014 South London born Trudie Dawn Smith emerges quietly but confidently with a refreshing take on a distinctly home grown sound - following a demo of Mother's Word, online since 2012, Trudie announces her first official offering in the debut single 'No Pop' to be released on the newly minuted STAC (Strange Things Are Coming) label. Born of a creative partnership between Trudie and drummer/producer Tom Skinner, No Pop's clattering, reverb drenched drums and loose-heavy dub bassline recalls a distinctive period in London's late 70's post-punk history, akin to the experimental sound of The Slits. Trudie's alluring voice with it's hushed but soulful delivery floats above the hypnotic haze, a sweet echo of memories past, recalling a dancehall of days gone by. Appropriately accompanied with the 'No Echo Dub' version on the flip side, the 7" release is a bold introduction to an intriguing new artist.
