Websites to use when you're looking for work
Hey guys! I was thinking before about how I can maybe help some of you out and also how maybe we can help each other out! Here is a list of websites I personally use to find some potential work!
Mine are the following:
StaffMeUp.com - easy to use free website with straight to the point information on productions going on near you or anywhere in the country. My personal fave! Good friend of mine tells me this is where he gets MOST of his work. He works in the New Orleans, LA area.
ProductionHUB.com - Another simple to use site that has many uses besides just trying to work. You can connect with production companies, equipment vendors, etc. A cool feature is being able to search for Freelance work or full/part time work selectively. Also Free!
Mandy.com - This one, I personally have not spent too much time on it so I honestly can't tell you too much about it however, it's pretty simple to use and easy to look up where productions are happening all over!
Indeed.com - This one is much different from all the rest mainly because it's not directed towards the film/television industry at all, BUT do not let that discourage you! I find leads on productions all the time on this little gem. From production assistant gigs, to camera operators needed. Free to sign up and simple to use. Just search some key words about what type of work you're looking for and you might just find something. This is really my last resort for when the other sites aren't doing so well for me.
If some of you who follow this blog are in the industry in any way, besides the use of your own personal network of colleagues you personally know, what are some websites you use to find work? Reply to this post and I'll make a new list so we can all share the info!
Kind of Freaking out
in a good way. So I apply to a lot of post production jobs through StaffmeUp.com. They are an awesome website to find production jobs whether below or above the line. But they mostly deal with reality shows ranging from HGTV to Discovery channel. But I digress.
So earlier today I applied to some Assistant Editor jobs on staffmeup, no big deal. A couple of hours later I see this post on facebook, from staffme up, about hitRECord needing an assistant editor. I applied to this job in less than a minute. Mainly because I want to work in my field, but because also I'm totally qualified for that position. And it would be a great opportunity to do something awesome. But anywho cross your fingers and toes.
