If I'd been able to interview Liam for the film I'd have asked him about it, but I think he felt the performance spoke for itself. -- Jake Scott, director of Knebworth 1996
But it used to be great playing it ["I Am the Walrus"], because Liam would walk off first, then I'd put my guitar down and leave all the effects on, saying to the rest of the band, "Keep it going for as long as possible". Just so me and Our Kid could drink the two bottles of champagne we used to get on our rider! -- Noel, NME, Oct/Nov 1998 We didn't have enough songs at the beginning to, you know, play for 45 minutes. I'd worked out "I Am the Walrus," and if we extended the end, we could just extend it until we'd played enough to get paid. So the end would always do the "goo-goo-ga-chu--" and then Liam would just walk off, and then I'd walk off, and we'd stand and watch the other three trying to work out an ending for it--which they never did! They were just kind of--we'd be like (pretending to look at his watch) "And, that's it, we're done!" And they'd just stop. -- Noel, Take 5 With Zan Rowe, Oct 2023 video credits: glastonbury, tokyo, chicago
