Pushing my aro drunz agenda
manipulative c!punz but he's just so in love with c!dream he himself is convinced he's doing the right thing- c!dream wouldnt take care of himself after all, c!punz has to do it for him!
Dream has put himself in worse, more high control situations of his own volition, Dream is practically consenting to Punz taking control of his life! Punz took such good care of his armor and items while Dream was in prison, it only makes sense that they take over more of those responsibilities once Dream gets out 🤭 just to take some of the burden off of Dream of course
Punz is just being a good friend :) why don't you give them your weapon so they can sharpen it for you, Dream? They take such good care of your things :)) oh you don't have to worry about food Punz keeps all of it safe in their inventory for both of you :)) it's just to help you get back into shape :))
It’s actually pretty sad to me that c!Punz is so often portrayed as the uncaring, cold hearted, power hungry mercenary who’s only loyal to c!Dream because of payment and the book and would even carry on the plan without c!Dream, when in reality especially before things start to fall apart, c!Punz is actually one of the more wholesome people. Like helping fix c!Tommy’s yard, giving c!Tubbo an additional new bee, just wanting to fish with the boys, saving c!Dream’s pickaxe, giving c!Dream replacement pants, giving c!George netherite, giving clingy duo and c!Jack resources, oh and of course we can’t forget:
And that’s just some examples of things I’ve come across and noted. I know there are plenty of other wholesome moments of c!Punz just being a good friend not some cold moneymaker. And that’s not to say c!Punz isn’t a terrible person who did human experiments, but to say that I think, just like with c!Dream, we really do his character a disservice when we base his characterization off of a handful of lore we get toward the end as if none of what came before matters...
(sorry for any grammatical errors I'm using a translator :'D).
I have a question and I hope it's okay if I ask here (You can totally not answer if you don't want to!).
If I'm not mistaken, c!Punz was infected(?) by the egg and I was wondering if this ever influenced his relationship with c!Dream in any way (since he is openly against the egg).
I mean I think it’s important to remember that the Eggpire happened during c!Dream’s imprisonment. And by the time he is free the Egg is assumed to not be a threat, so whether c!Punz was brainwashed by the Egg while c!Dream was imprisoned doesn’t seem overly important to their relationship. In my opinion at least. They got other priorities- revenge, research, trauma… etc.
I mean I’m sure they had conversations about it and I’m sure c!Dream was disappointed and frustrated that c!Punz failed in protecting the server he left in his care, but I also think c!Dream could recognize mindcontrol for the threat it is. After all, he knows what it’s like to lose full autonomy and have no control over what happens to you. So if anyone can be empathetic or understanding to the situation it’d probably be c!Dream.
Also, c!Bad was fully part of the Eggpire around the time of his visit to c!Dream in prison, where he expresses deep sympathy, and while I’m sure someone told him all about the Red Banquet, c!Dream still trusted him with the blueprints later (presumably post Eggpire since he doesn’t have the changed skin in the Revival Book video). And sure desperation in prison limits options but clearly he didn’t think that c!Bad was that bad or much of his enemy since he trusted him. So then I find it less likely that things would be much different between him and c!Punz. Plus, in the end, c!Punz isn’t in the finales of the Egg but side by side with c!Dream against clingy duo and an impending nuke, which kinda says it all doesn’t it.
So yeah I don’t think it was that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. I could see them having a discussion and it going a few different ways, here is kinda one optionish [post] but that’s about it.
To me, when it comes to staged duo and the Egg I find it kinda more interesting to not think about how the opposing sides impacted their relationship, but more so what made c!Punz susceptible to the Egg’s control in the first place and then like how that would impact things. Like was it his bloodlust and willingness to war? Was it his anger at the server who killed and imprisoned his friend? Was it the Egg’s promise to free c!Dream or make the server a happy family? Was it just that c!Punz’s default of following instead of leading made him more susceptible to following orders and being controlled? (This would maybe align with like c!Antfrost and partly c!Bad, the complicit prison guards willing to just follow Sam’s orders and for the most part turn a blind eye to the prison abuse)… so many interesting options to consider.
Biggest difference in their relationships with c!Dream I think, is that c!Punz thinks c!Dream is cool, and c!Techno know that he's a total dork
