i'm surprised you don't have stalia on your notp list.

Well, I certainly don’t ship it, but I don’t think I have as big a problem with it as other fans do because I see it as part of a mystery plot thread more than a romantic pairing, if that makes sense. I certainly think it’s intriguing, so much doesn’t add up. Why does Malia, who’s all “I’m a coyote, I only look out for no.1”, latch onto Stiles so fiercely, especially when she blamed him for turning her back against her will? I think it was metamewrong who put together a great meta of odd things that don’t add up about Malia. And then there’s Stalia’s role in Stiles’ closeted arc. And the whole colonial allegory going on which I find very interesting (and makes me look at Malia as a victim of neo-colonialism as much as a potential villain, which fits the role of villains in TW to date). So yeah, I don’t support Stalia as a romantic pairing at all, but as a plot I find it really intriguing. Certainly looks like messy times ahead. Davis said in a recent interview that s4 had a much lighter “reboot” feel to the series than 3b, which was their darkest season to date, adding “we’ll see if we can top 3b with s5”. Bodes well, eh?

stalia still is happening and it's ruining my entire mood. and everyone keeps hoping that dylan and tyler h will leave the show and i'm worried that their wishes will be granted. :(

I really wouldn’t worry about Stalia being endgame love. Just remember, the show isn’t a romance - it’s a supernatural mystery/horror. The show even told us that first loves aren’t necessarily forever (like Scallison) - the same holds true for Stalia, Malia being Stiles’ first relationship. Furthermore, because the show is not focused on romance, the odd things that don’t add up about Stalia and Draeden? Part of the mystery! These relationships become even more suspicious when compared with positive slow build pairings like Scira and Marrish, which are built on openness, honesty and trust. Remember the TW writers are challenging popular romantic tropes through show vs tell - they want us to challenge them, to notice that they’re not healthy, that something’s a bit off. I completely understand how you feel - personally I have more of a cringe issue with Draeden than Stalia at this point. Braeden’s awesomes whichever side of the fence she winds up on (she may just be a neutral player), but once again we have a fairly suspicious character we know so little about physically involved with a character who has been sexually abused twice, and in a show that loves its’ “three’s a pattern” I’m really hesitant to jump on board this pair. Derek’s character and history make it hard to ship him with anyone who hasn’t shared at least a season’s worth of build/up. Now, if Draeden had the sort of build up that Parrish and Lydia appear to be getting, I’d be more supportive of it. But it’s not, which tells us it’s more likely to be part of the plot, rather than a romance.

As for Tyler H and DOB leaving, I really don’t see that happening. Obviously I can’t promise anything, I don’t have any insider knowledge, but think of it this way - both are very tied to their roles, never underestimate that. Its good work, fantastic publicity and there’s very likely only one season left, so I’d say the chances of them sticking around until the end are high.

What do you think about the blank space regarding Derek's li in the TVLine thing? How do you see the chances of Derek having a thing with a guy and Draeden being the mislead?

I haven’t actually read the TVline thing, I’ve just seen people freaking out about it. Uno momento, I’ll look it up…

Okay, so aside from TVLine being well known for exaggerating things and talking bollocks (Matt in particular seems to be bad for this - I’m sure I remember people getting angry at him way back during 3a), what did the article actually tell us Sterek-wise that we didn’t already know? Derek will be hooking up with Braeden, and Stiles will continue his thing with Malia. We also know Derek and Stiles will have scenes together because we’ve glimpsed them together in the trailers (one in the animal clinic, one in what looks to be the school). I really don’t think anyone has seen previews of this season beyond episode 6 or 7 at the most, so I very much doubt TVLine was talking about the full season. Remember O’brien and Hoechlin said they couldn’t speak about Sterek in S4, which implied spoilery reasons - they could have said ‘Yeah we have a couple of fun scenes together’, but instead they refused to say anything, which struck me as interesting. Might not be anything, but something to think about. They couldn’t tell us about Sterek, but TVLine could?

Anyway, to answer your question, I’m suspect the “…” space in that article refers to Braeden. I could be wrong, Derek did make a connection with Parrish in ep2, but given that I’m fairly certain TVLine have only seen two or three more episodes than we have, and we know a Draeden kiss is coming up, I’m willing to bet that’s who they meant.

He will help her and surely encourage her relationship with Stiles, thats how.

This is just my view of Derek, Nonnie, but I don't think he's the type of character who would give a flying toss about Malia's relationship with Stiles. He'll likely just be concerned with helping her control her shift. I really don't know why everyone's surprised that Derek and Malia will have some kind of relationship/interaction, considering that (as far as the audience and most of the characters have been led to believe) they're family.

As for Stiles relationship with Malia, we're two episodes into the season and already something is clearly fishy about them. Episode 2 raised the continuing theme of consent again, this time with Stalia. I'm not remotely worried about Stalia becoming a romantic thing. The PR machine tells us it's romantic, but everything in the show suggests otherwise and the show is what we should pay attention to because the PR talks bollocks.

Hi! about TW, you think it may be possible that stiles being kind of OOC in the first episode and all on board with his relationship with malia may be due any side effects of the nogitsune? like he trying to be himself again? or just bad writing?

Hm, I really need to re-watch the episode first. I’ve noticed a lot of people picking up on Stiles’ seeming OOC, but he went through a lot last season so he’s not going to be the Stiles we know and love, not completely. He looked pretty unkempt and rundown in last night’s episode. (Tbh, I was re-watching S1 recently and the difference between S1 Stiles and S3a is enormous). Also, remember what Mrs Yukimura said, “More Stiles than Nogitsune.” Most meta writers seem to agree Stiles’ had two possessing forces e.g. the Nemeton and the Nogitsune, or the Nogitsune and Void, some kind of dark spirit we haven’t met yet which controls the flies. What’s clear is that he got rid of one possessing force, but he may still be linked to the other.

As for his relationship with Malia, I think there’s either one of two things going on here. Malia’s very fishy, there’s a reason we were told over and over again that you can’t trust a coyote, that coyotes, like foxes and ravens, are always hungry. There are a lot of skeevy parallels with Dennifer and it seems like Malia is leeching power off of Stiles every time they make out, so it could be that Stiles has been whammied in much the same way Derek was. The other option is that Stiles has been left with a crapload of guilt after the events of S3b and looking out for Malia is sort of his penance. It definitely felt very awkward and one-sided, nothing like the PR told us (which is why we should never listen to PR!)
