what is your favourite moment from The Great Gatsby? (I just read it a lil while ago and am keen to hear other peoples thoughts on it) :)
gosh, what a hard question! i feel like i’d have to reread it again to give you an answer but i think i have one for you. (maybe two!) even though nick is my favorite character i think my favorite moments have to be either when nick meets gatsby on accident and gatsby introduces himself abruptly (“I’m Gatsby.”) i dunno it just makes me laugh! i thought it was really funny. or even though this isn’t happy whatsoever when Gatsby’s dad, Henry Gatz comes to Gatsby’s funeral and he asks “Where have they got Jimmy?” that hit me REALLY fucking hard i just think because it is the first actual usage of Gatsby’s real name and then a nickname version of that said by a character in the book, and it just feels so parental and full of grief, like Gatsby’s just a little boy. probably those! although as a honorable mention i think i’m including nicks narration near the end of the book when he describes the snow on christmas when he used to come home for the holiday from school and he called it “our snow”. for me it feels like a clear indicator that the book is coming to an end and it feels like a very natural way to start wrapping up nick’s chapter in the east. sorry this was so long but i hope you enjoyed my answer(s)!
