Welcome to the Stanvoeux Medical Malpractice Event 2026.

This is a low key 3 day event (May 9th - 11th) for posting works featuring Charles Des Voeux and Stephen Stanley.

RULES/GUIDELINES:

Works don't have to be rated E - but participants must be over 18.

Prompts are for inspiration - write what inspires you. There are two for each day.

We all hate AI on this site but - no generative AI work allowed.

Works don't have to be specifically medical malpractice in the literal sense- that's the name of the event because it sounded fun.

Canon divergences such as Modern, Post-Rescue, Alternate Universe, Girlnavy etc are welcome - we want all the StanVoeux.

It's not just for fic - art, video edits, etc are also welcome.

AO3 collection is here - we'll also do a masterlist at the end.

We'll reblog your posts - tag us @stanvoeuxmedicalmalpractice and use the tag #stanvoeuxmedicalmalpractice so we can find your posts.

We're hoping this gives you all plenty of notice to create something for the event. For the next few weeks, we'll be pretty quiet as there are currently other events running and coming up before ours. Feel free to send an ask or message if you have questions.

"Stephen…"

It sickens Stanley that he is so familiar, but at the same time he looks like a weak, wet thing. Like he was just born. Pitiable. Should he be kinder? Slick with sweat and two days in to illness, he is less a first mate and more a child. More Charles than Des Voeux. His family wouldn't claim him as an officer now. The man starts to shake. He reaches a hand out and catches Stanley's shirt.

Light bursts in Stanley's vision. A spark, where fingers touched. He is so tired. There is nothing to do but to let it happen. He looks one last time at the candle. Its flame is flying away like a distant gull. One splits apart like petals peeled from a flower, and it is two, and then three, and then a dozen. The birds fly between them, around them, sometimes shrinking as if they are at a distance, as if that is possible in a tiny cabin where Stanley can reach out his arms and touch both opposite walls. Their brightness hurts his eyes. Where their wings touch wood or fabric, little flames appear.
