I often think about Stanley, in the gift shop stocking items, 30 years after Jade disappears. He's having a good day, made a lot of money, he's smiling and humming to whatever is on the radio.
Suddenly somewhere in the shop, a random person says "Oh this is lovely, is it genuine jade?"
Her face flashes in his mind and he freezes. He hadn't let himself think about her in a while. But now the floodgates are open, and his heart squeezes mercilessly.
Stanley excuses himself. He's sitting on his bed, jacket and fez tossed to some corner of the room. It's dark as he puts his face in his hands and begs the memories to go away.
Inp. By this song:
Just when I think I'm over her
This broken heart will mend
I hear her name and I have to cry
The tears come down again
