Jade
Ok, this is a LONG story, posted for anyone that is even the LEAST bit curious about my OC Jade.
whoo, this is gonna be complicated.
SO it starts in an entirely different fandom altogether. Jade started out as an OC of mine for Star Trek: The Next Generation and just... *explosion noises* ya know?
Originally I had Jade from a race of beings more ancient than even the Q. Not necessarily more powerful but with a much more intricate knowledge of the rules of the universe and beyond. My friend @pineaberry helped me sort it all out and make it kinda make sense but its still a bit complicated. But here we go:
So there's a... thing in the GF fandom (I think, its been a while) called the Spiral. Its sort of a character kinda like Bill or Axolotl. But its not canon. ANYWAY...
Spiral was created in the beginning of the cosmos when dimensions were being brought to existence. The new dimensions crushed smaller ones and one of these had sentient beings inside of it. Spiral is what happens when you collapse a entire dimension into itself and every mind and possibility within it is merged into one.
That is why Spiral's home is dead and the sky has no stars, it all collapsed into one being. It's also why she can see and dictate the flow of order and entropy. She is in perfect balance and knows how to calibrate the universe so it keeps ticking. Spiral values potential more than anything. If a creature has potential, it will keep the wheels of the cosmos turning, but the moment something stops growing/improving/adapting, it becomes a drain on the universe. Spiral has infinite potential because it is literally an entire universe collapsed into itself.
The multiverse swings from Stagnation to Entropy. Spiral is in the middle, making sure neither of them destroys the universe. The rules are what keep them in balance. Devouring dimensions that are already collapsing instead of saving them? Allowed. Stabilizing a star that was meant to go supernova and destroy an inhabited solar system? Punished.
The rules are not good or bad, they are meant to keep the structure intact. That dimension was already going to collapse, quickening the process is not going to change anything. That supernova was meant to generate new elements for the creation of stars in the quadrant, you stopped that entire generation of stars from forming.
It's all played like 'you can't negatively impact the cycle of the universe'.. Even if it's for a good cause, you can't expect the universe to stop for you. But at the same time, there's all these little loopholes and caveats that Spiral doesn't share.
Spiral found the Q when they were young and taught them basic rules like you would teach a toddler colors, but when she saw the path they were heading into she refused to teach them more unless they changed. (For those unfamiliar the Q are an all powerful godlike race that view themselves above everything and everyone and feel they have reached peak existence) They took this to mean Spiral was attempting to shape them as opposed to her trying to guide them away from being left behind. The more Spiral refused them the more hostile the Q became, until she removed their ability to enter her realm which severely damaged their collective ego and they chose to bury all knowledge of Spiral so that no one else would be able to access her realm.
THIS IS WHERE JADE COMES IN
@pineaberry posed, what if Jade was accidentally jettisoned from the collapsing dimension that formed Spiral? It would mean that she has an inherent knowledge of the "Rules", or the rules of the cosmos that every living being goes by whether they know it or not. No one taught her, it's just natural talent being that she's an offshoot of Spiral. Coupled with the fact that the Dimensional skip she went through gave her Q powers AND greater potential than the Q. Because of this, the Q hate and fear her even though they are the only "family" she's ever known. They know enough to realize not only is she capable of growing stronger and surpassing them, she will outlive them.
FFW to much later when she discovers Earth. She loves Earth, all of the animals and the oceans and the funny little beings that inhabit it and play within it. She walked among them through the centuries and was always being chastised by the Q for spending all of her free time there. "Jade's in the mud playing with the bugs again, what will the neighbors think?"
Her best friend is Q (the one from the show). He tries to keep her out of trouble even though he's not the best example himself. He warns her of her actions and there are consequences and even if they wouldnt (maybe even couldnt) destroy her, that doesnt mean they wouldnt destroy the Earth to keep her from going there. A lot of it has to do with their hatred of her and she's (at this point) just a kid and doesnt really understand who she actually is. Yet.
One day, while on earth, she's strolling through a run down garbage town in New Jersey and sees young man, maybe 19 or so, and he's miserable. Just a pathetic wreck. He's practically homeless, and trying desperately to make a living selling cheap and defective merchandise. She sees the world glare, sneer, ignore, and laugh at him but she also sees that he's just lost. He's all alone and doesnt even have a single friend and she approaches him. She tries to give him some advice about his sales pitch and could tell that he would be offended if he werent so damned desperate. She sticks by him and they become great friends. Running from town to town, traveling the world, trying to make money and trying to stay out of prison. Pretty soon they're both completely in love with one another.
One day Stan goes out to get them some breakfast, and on his way back he procures a ring. When he gets back to the hotel she's GONE. No trace of her anywhere. And he never sees her again... sort of. Several months later, his brother asks him to come to Gravity Falls urgently.
Meanwhile…See what had happened was... Q came and told her there was a problem. The Continuum of the Q decided to give her a very special assignment. Her and Q were to look after one another and try and keep each other in line. Also she was forbidden to ever set foot back on earth. Or the Continuum would be forced to give her no Earth to go back to.
She was furious and started seeing the Continuum for the hypocritical monsters they were. After a very long time, her and Q become very close. VERY close. She becomes pregnant, and this is the opportunity that the Continuum have been waiting for. They have a trial, and they find both her and Q guilty of the utmost impropriety (the prudes). They give Jade an ultimatum. She can renounce her powers, leave the continuum, never entertain a relationship with any Q again, and raise her bastard child alone (HII @getagal … such a good daughter), or they would kill both Q and their baby.
She leaves, renounces her powers, and changes her name to Gaela. Gaela Davin.
AT THAT EXACT MOMENT
When Jade becomes Gaela, Q (who loves her deeply) couldn't allow the person he loved to be gone forever. He secretly creates a being, not Q or Spiral or anything else, just a girl that is made of pure energy. She can create things from her energy, but when she does it drains her of her own, she has no other powers. She is given all of the memories and knowledge that Jade had when she was her happiest, on Earth with Stanley. Q then places her in Gravity Falls, only it's 30 years later (because the Q have no concept of time. What do you mean it's 30 years later? Your human looks the same as when you left right?) and right after Wierdmageddon.
So for all Jade knows, she used to be a Q and is madly in love with Stanley. She finds him and tells him everything she knows and that’s where we are now.
There was really NO other way I could tell this story shorter. Sorry.
