Aster watching the chrono carefully. It was almost time! She snatched up the long distance communicator and connected to the portable station. Huddled on her bed she snuggled up a pillow and began to signal out.
“Hey Princess.” A tad hazy, a bit of static but still it was her Ezra.
Aster felt her cheeks burn, “ Hi honey. I’ve missed you.”
….
They spoke for hours. Aster watching as the moon and stars began to dip into the horizon.
“We’ve talked the night away.” She whispered. Sadness started to inch into her voice. “ I wish you were here, you could see the sunrise with me.”
The Jedi sighed, “ I wish I was. I’d be better than freezing up in hyperspace.”
He thought of the last time they were together, in Aster’s warm embrace and the lovely scent of her perfume. That felt like a lifetime ago…
The communication beeped its battery warning. The zabrak cursed. How dare it tell her that the call would end soon!
“Will you visit soon?”
“I’ll try…I promise.” As long as he didn’t have to face that giant chirodactyl again.
Aster smiled, “ I’ll make sure he plays nice. Eris owes me one….” Her cousin found it much too fun scaring Ezra.
“ please do, that critter almost ate me last time.”
“Don’t worry I’ll keep you safe” She swore.
“I know you will….”
They said their goodbyes, trying their best not to sob. Aster gripped at her chest. Their bond ached from the distance. So far he was….so far away from her. Aster whimpered and kept her tears at bay. He would come and see her…he promised.

Gunn, one of the genre's most prominent literary critics, is still in print, and is available as an ebook from Amazon and Google Play.
Please consider Life Day coming up soon, it will be the first time that Aster is away from home. Her buir and brother would be cooking up a storm in the kitchen, always making enough for a small army it felt like.
“I think I’ll make a small feast at least.” She shares with Ezra who is casually cutting at a meliorun in his hands.
“For what?”
“For Life Day, my buir would get up at such an early hour for broth alone…”
Ezra hums, “ Havent had a dinner for life day since…hmm well there was this little event that gave free food we all got a bowl.”
Aster stops, “ So you haven’t had a full life day since..”
The two don’t say it aloud. Since Ezra lost his parents.
The young Jedi shakes his head, “ Hey it’s alright. Hey it’s Aster I know that look…”
“I don’t know what you mean, love.”
The Jedi shakes his head, “You’re getting an idea..”
“Possibly…” she steps away towards the market Ezra at her heels.
“Aster.”
“I’m making us a feast, it’s Life Day soon…”
He sighs, “ Once you get an idea you don’t quit.”
“You love that about me, now how I also make us some uj cake with dried meliorun?”
A kiss to her cheek, “You are right I do love that…”
Aster is a romantic, she has rosy visions.

She wants to live in the paintings she makes. Of sunsets and lake side retreats.

It is clear that she favors the sights of a Midrim planet…and dreams of standing in gardens and dressed like a Princess. Currently…she pictures herself roaming its grounds and hiding away from a secret love.
She’s painted and sketched it….a smile on her lips..
If she had been a normal girl, if she had been born in that lovely landscape. She dreams. Soft petals in her hands and rushing away in laughter from prying eyes. The lakeside terrace where her secret love brought her.
To sneak a kiss upon her lips, as soft as the petals from the garden.
Had she been a normal girl, it would just be that her Father did not approve, no one would be good enough for his Aster. Has she been a normal girl or was rushing away from meddlesome siblings. Had she been normal it would be telling her buir that a boy had kissed her. Had she been….

Instead Ezra kisses Aster’s lips as they stand on a desolate base.
No lakeside, no gardens….no simplicity of what she dreamed of…
They are part of a Rebellion, a Jedi and a Force Wielder from separate worlds. Very different indeed…the Jedi and the child of a Sith..
He kisses her cheek, “ One day I’ll take you to that Lake you painted. We will have a picnic with that tea you like and you can dress like a Princess.”
“A simple view would suffice.” She smiles, “ a view and a kiss..”
“It’s a date then…”

Aster dreams of a romantic date on the lakeside…she runs through the gardens and finds him waiting for her.
“I promised you….one day I will…” he tells her gently. They stare out at the lake and green.
He is so far away from her. He has been for the past few years.
Aster stands beside him, “ One day you will…it’s a date.”

Aster wakes in her bunk and sighs softly, “ One day Ezra…”
Ezra wakes in a forest, no lake side shore or Aster beside him, “ I promise I will Aster….I promise…
An afternoon at the Fortress
Danica: *reading with a plate of toast next to her*
Maul: Dani, have you seen Aster?
Danica: *without looking up* It’s 2 o’clock she’s napping.
Maul: *sigh* Have you seen my Apprentice?
Danica: He’s napping too.
Maul: What?
Danica: Aster and Ezra are napping in Aster’s room. She does have the comfiest bed you know. 😊
Maul:...thank you for informing me Dani. Have you seen my saber?
Danica: in your office...Daddy you have that funny look. Your eye is twitching
Maul: oh is it? Didn’t notice...excuse me sweetie.

Maul: BRIDGER!
Aster: 5 more minutes...*hugs Ezra tighter*
Ezra: ASTER I DONT HAVE 5 SECONDS!!!
