Hey, sorry to bother you but I had a question I've been trying to make paper stars and it's not really working?? I'm not sure if that's because I suck at folding tint scraps of paper or what. Do you know anyway to make it easier or remember how you learned? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm just getting a little frustrated.
It’s not stupid at all! I’ve been meaning to make a tutorial video and I’ll upload that later this week, but here’s some tips for now that I hope help you!
When you first start out, make sure the colored side of the paper is facing you. Place your fingers about halfway through the strip, then make an X so that hte shorter side touches the middle of the strip. Now you have a short tail and a long tail (alternatively, it looks like an upside-down support ribbon).
Take the short side and fold it over, through the hole and pull gently on the long strip to tighten this “knot” that has been created. Your goal is to get a flat pentagon, so guide the loop and gently pull the long strip until this is achieved.
Once you have that part, flip over this knot and tuck the short tail into the paper pocket that’s created. Flip it back over, and from there fold the long tail over and over, following the creases of your pentagon (make sure that you’re folding over edges, not points!).
Once you run out of tail, tuck it into the nearest paper pocket. Now you have a flat, contained pentagon! All that’s left now is to pinch each corner.
I hope this helps! I know that just reading text instructions can be difficult (I myself learn better by example or visually), so keep an eye out later this week for a tutorial video.
It’s okay to get frustrated, just don’t give up <3
Keep on shining!♥ Courtney
