He loves racing, so he’s been practicing his exit since he was a colt. (most likely centaur racing extends from the horse racing base, allowing horses to race at ages 2 and 3. Centaur racing possibly could start at the young teens all the way through mid to late 50′s) Also, Tobias has a bright turquoise spot on his back and some streaks in his tail. Those can be attributed to an accident with his father when he was an older colt.Why Someone Might Love Them: Tobias loves hugs! He gives them out all the time.Why Someone Might Hate Them: The only problem with the hugs... he’s really tall. 8′3″ to be exact.How They Change: Tobias was born to normal parents, but his early years of growing up left him with a sour attitude. He was never happy, and he often destroyed household furniture. His parents suggested a therapist, but no one around wanted to help a raging centaur child. So he went most of his early childhood unhappy and angry during the day, while crying himself to sleep almost every night. 

Then one day, his family went to a county fair, where they had horse races lined up for the entire day. Tobias was fascinated, even finding out about similar races for centaurs like himself. He had a new outlook on life after that, and he began his practicing of exiting the gate perfectly. He had mastered his own technique by the age of 9. 

Later that same year, Tobias and his dad were out on a hiking trip in the Rockies. They came upon an ancient temple to some type of forest spirit. Intrigued, Tobi’s father moved closer, even tapped parts of the temple. After nothing happened, he decided to make fun of the temple and the spirit is was dedicated to. It turned out to be a mistake, and the huge spirit emerged from its hiding place and attacked Tobi’s father. The boy watched on in horror as his father was mauled and killed in front of his eyes. Tiny bits of the final blow given to his father drifted over to Tobi and attached to his back and tail. It burned like nothing he had felt before, yet he felt a surge of energy run through him, and he turned and ran from the scene. Before the incident, Tobi’s pelt was all black with two white socks on his front legs.

Tobi and his mother mourned the loss of his father afterwards, but Tobi learned to respect his world, physical or spiritual, and his constant unhappiness soon disappeared. A tattoo of a Rubix cube was put on his chest to remember his dad and how good of a relationship they had. He often visited that spirit temple to talk to his father, and the spirit possessing the temple grew to like Tobi. Even as he aged, he grew fond of the spirit, though others he is terrified of. He often associates supernatural hunters with other spirits, and it’s hard for him not to. Tobias now is a professional racer and travels all over the world for competitions. He races with and without a rider.Why You Love Them: Tobias is a big child basically. He doesn’t get mad very easily, and most of the time all he wants to do is cuddle. He’s a softie. <3

His mother and father are 19′ and 25′ long respectively, while he remains 9′ long. His siblings are also longer than him, oldest sister being 20′ and second oldest being 17′. He is the youngest and the most agile, so he is easily able to flip around much like a dolphin rather than a whale. This comes in handy with his job as an officer.Why Someone Might Love Them: His ability to get you soaking wet (take that one as you will X3 )Why Someone Might Hate Them: He likes to bite...How They Change: Byling was born the youngest and smallest of his family. He was often taken advantage of in school because of his size, so he was transferred to a school that was more forgiving, though it had humans in it. He grew up in a time where humans and monsters did not get along well with each other. In high school, he met his best friend and later partner in work and life, Dave Morton. Byling and Dave were an odd set, Dave being human and Byling being a rather large merman, large compared to humans. He was full grown by age 16. Nevertheless, Dave stuck by Byling’s side, supporting monster rights as strongly as his own rights. Mermaids were among the first monsters to gain their rights, gaining them around the same time African Americans did.

Out of high school, Byling and Dave went to a police academy in Los Angeles. They were trained in criminal justice and thrust into the police force, gaining tattoos of their office numbers. Byling also got inked up with red and blue on his fins and tail. The red and blue ink is reflective, so any merfolk can see him coming and know they’re in trouble. In entering the force, Byling met his two other best friends, Stark and Trevor.Why You Love Them: Honestly, Byling is based somewhat off of my dad. He’s honest and will help anyone in any circumstance.
