Starcade Chuck!!!

Decided to not only drop one art of my reimagining of Chuck E. Cheese, but two!

Starcade Chuck is the snazzy, charismatic, and talented rat who owns a big high-end restaurant, arcade, and event venue complex almost rivaling that of Vegas casinos. Despite coming from a well-off family and possessing an occasional streak of sass and jokes, deep down he has a kind and giving heart, especially to all his patrons. Besides being the owner of such an establishment, he is also a musician, gamer, and robotic engineer— all rolled up into one rodent!

Since my version of Chuck runs a huge arcade complex that’s meant for a slightly older demographic (tweens to adults; think something like Round1, Dave & Buster’s, etc mixed with the works of Meow Wolf), I drew him with some characters some people might recognize! Most are arcade game mascots (Derakkuma of maimai, Chuni Penguin of CHUNITHM, Ai-Ai of Super Monkey Ball, and Don-chan of Taiko no Tatsujin), along with Hatsune Miku and Cinnamoroll! They’re all characters one might find at an arcade, either being the face of a prominent arcade game or being a cute plush prize.

I was inspired by Tux Chuck, the overall retro neon aesthetic, my interest in video games and music one might find on a rhythm game, and my past experience going to one of those big neon-lit arcade places on a school field trip when designing him. I was also influenced by the fact a lot of Honey Girls fans also happen to be fans of Chuck, and the magic begun to sort of work on me so I couldn't help but make a design of him that's more adjacent to both the HG and my interests. He definitely looks like a character who would fit in their universe!

I gave him a giant hammer to also give him some video game character-like vibes, and also because I think it's a tad funny.

Yesterday was Mother’s Day so I was thinking about the mothers of many of my characters.

And I ended up sketching out one of them.

Meet Matilda Cheese (née Roquefort), Starcade Chuck’s mother.

Starcade Chuck takes a lot after his mother in both appearance and personality, as Matilda was a bit of a go-getter herself in her youth yet at the same time is a sweetheart. Having married into the wealthy Cheese family, she used a great amount of the fortune she got from her marriage to give to those in need. She has even visited her son’s arcade complex occasionally!

I think I might actually draw more parent characters soon, even if they might just be colored sketches like this one.

✨⭐️ “Ready for the next show?” ⭐️✨

My previous artwork— featuring the one and only Starcade Chuck E. Cheese— got really popular on Instagram, so I decided to make a bonus artwork with him! I’ve also experimented with a more dynamic pose for Chuck here.

Chuck’s accompanied by arcade rhythm game mascots again; this time it’s Don-chan (from Taiko no Tatsujin) and Derakkuma (from maimai). And they’re wearing matching derby hats and bow ties with him as well! Don-chan even decided to wear some rat ears too.

Princess Ava from Adventures in Pocketville is back again… this time as an animatronic! And she’s with Starcade Chuck, who built her and all! Don-chan (who somehow has wings) also decided to tag along; expect an arcade rhythm game mascot sometimes showing up whenever this version of Chuck E. Cheese shows up.

I was inspired by @evabestkitty / @doingascat when it comes to drawing a depiction of a Pocketville character as an animatronic. I decided to go for a more “realistic” approach, akin to animatronics found in various theme parks as well as CEC and what certain well-known animatronic companies made. Perhaps Chuck made this animatronic for a Pocketville-themed dark ride!

Mainly because I was inspired by a lot of video game characters that wield a giant hammer. Think Mario, King Dedede, Amy Rose, etc.

IT’S SHOWTIME!

Happy New Year’s Eve, everybody!!! Have this special crossover drawing featuring Teegan of Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Honey Girls… with a snazzy Chuck E. Cheese!

I’ve noticed that so many Honey Girls fans I come across are also fans of CEC, so I wanted to make this drawing as a gift to all those who are fans of both! And not just that, but I’ve decided to make a reimagining of the rat himself just for fun!

I’m calling this reimagining “Starcade Chuck”. Besides him obviously being based on Tux, I wanted to go for a game show host-like vibe with him as well as being inspired by both Willy Wonka and Caine from TADC. In this reimagining, he’s depicted as the owner of an even bigger arcade/entertainment venue aimed at more of a wider demographic (think something like Round1 mixed with those large arcade complexes), with neon galore. Somewhere the Honey Girls would absolutely love to spend time in. And just for fun, I’ve also decided that he’s also a robotic engineer… and a gamer along with that!

I had the perfect idea for Teegan’s outfit to go along with the fancy rat. Wanted to give a bit of a retro flair to her look! And of course, being a renowned singer and musician, I definitely see her going up there with Chuck to perform with him, whether wanting to team up or be a little competitive.

Hope everyone’s having a fantastic New Year’s Eve! This was a first for me; I never thought I could finish a drawing on this day!

A combination of Starcade Chuck and Tux Chuck! Perhaps this could be “Tuxcade Chuck”?

I’ve also noticed that artwork of Chuck takes me an even shorter time to draw compared to almost anything else I typically draw.

I can’t believe seeing a prominent overlap between Honey Girls and CEC fans (many people I come across are fans of both), a Round1 location opening up at my local mall that just so happens to be next to a CEC, and me getting more into rhythm games because the music I listen to tends to be part of them all led to the creation of Starcade Chuck.
