Starch Radness is our Paranatural version of March Madness! Starting on Friday, February 27th, we’ll post a poll every Friday pitting your favorite Paranatural groups against each other! Each week, you will vote for your favorite group of the pairs presented. Each poll will last for one week. The group with the most votes in their bracket will move on to the next round, where they will be pitted against another group who won their bracket, and the new poll for that will be posted. This will continue for five weeks, and the final winner will be posted on Friday, April 3rd.
Participating in Starch Radness is super fun, and to make things more interesting, we are continuing the prediction bracket contest! Information on this will be posted separately, but if you submit a prediction bracket, you could win Paranatural prizes, including…
An Eightfold plushie, a Forge plushie, and a set of The Activity Club pins from Makeship!
We can’t wait to see which Paranatural group YOU all love the most, and we hope you have fun!
(Close up of bracket under the cut, apologies for space constraints)
Here’s the bracket for Starch Radness 9! This year’s theme is “Favorite Group”
We’re continuing our prediction bracket contest where you can win a gifted subscription to Zack Morrison’s Patreon, or items from their itch.io. Additionally…
ONE EIGHTFOLD PLUSHIE, ONE FORGE PLUSHIE, AND ONE ACTIVITY CLUB PIN SET
are up for grabs as prizes this year!
Due to the number of prizes available, third place now gets a prize. In the event of ties, the entrant who submitted their bracket first will be given the first choice of the Makeship items.
Because we are continuing to use Tumblr polls this year and you can see the live results after voting, entrants may NOT post screenshots or percentages of the results before the poll’s voting has ended. Encouraging people to vote one way or another or saying that X choice is winning or losing is permitted, but we feel giving exact numbers may sway the voting too much. If there is an issue, we will talk to you about it first to attempt to resolve it, but we retain the right to disqualify you if a resolution cannot be reached.
Here’s how it works:
If you want to participate, you may either:
fill out a template bracket, as shown above and submit the photos to this blog
ask us for a link to a Google Sheet version of the bracket, fill that out, and submit screenshots of that bracket to this blog
THIS YEAR YOU **MUST** SUBMIT YOUR BRACKET THROUGH OUR ASKS/SUBMISSIONS.
In previous years, you could tell us your personal Google Sheet bracket was filled out and we’d take screenshots, but this year, everyone needs to submit their filled bracket via ask or submission because this is the clearest way for us to determine order of entry.
If you would like to request a Google Sheet bracket to fill out, send an ask to this blog, and I will reach out to you via my main @blairdiggory with a link to your personal bracket.
*Additionally, please be aware that I am unable to be on Tumblr most of the work day, but I will do my best to provide links every couple of hours. If you choose to fill out a Google Sheets bracket instead of editing the above photos, you may get your bracket sent to you later than you would like, which could delay your entry into the contest. Requests for Google Sheets brackets will be answered in the order they were received.*
These brackets must be turned submitted to Incorrect Pnat Quotes before 9 PM Eastern Time on Thursday, February 26th. You will receive a message or ask from @blairdiggory to confirm that we received your bracket.
Prizes
The person with the most points at the end of Starch Radness 9 wins either one Makeship item, 6 months of the $10 tier to Zack’s Patreon, or the entire library from Zack’s itch.io!
Second place gets one Makeship item (from the remaining items after first place chooses) or one item from Zack’s itch.io.
Third place gets one Makeship item (the remaining item after first and second place choose) or one item from Zack’s itch.io.
If any Makeship items are not selected as prizes, they will be rolled over as prize options to future years.
Again, in the event of ties, the entrant who submitted their bracket first will be given the first chance to choose their prize.
How to fill out a template bracket and how scoring works are explained under the cut. Have fun playing! :D
First, I’m going to fill out the bracket with which group I think will win each round (which is NOT necessarily who *MY* favorite group is). For example, I think the Burnhounds are going to beat out the Shockodiles. So, on the line stemming from their bracket, I write “Burnhounds” like this:
I do this for all pairs in the first round. Then, we get to the pairs in the second round. For my prediction bracket, I believe the first two groups facing off will be the Burnhounds and The Activity Club. Of those two, I believe the Burnhounds will win, so I write that name on the line stemming from that pair’s bracket.
Continue until all lines are filled out!
Points and Scoring:
After every round, you will tally how many characters that you correctly guessed would win the bracket. Round 1 is 1 point per character guessed correctly, round 2 is 2 points per character guessed correctly, etc. As an example, say Burnhounds wins their bracket, but The Activity Club loses their bracket. I win 1 point for that section because Burnhounds won but The Activity Club lost (and The Angel’s Cult won). If the Burnhounds win against The Angel’s Cult, I get 2 points for that section. Then, I add the points up at the end of the game, so for this section, so far I have 3 points.
The person with the most points at the end of Starch Radness 9 wins a Makeship item, 6 months of the $10 of Zack’s Patreon, or the entire library from Zack’s itch.io. Second place gets one Makeship item from the remaining choices or one item from Zack’s itchi.io, and third place gets the remaining Makeship item or one item from Zack’s itch.io.
Still have questions? Feel free to send us an ask, and we can clarify. :)
The prediction bracket contest closes on Thursday, February 26th!
If you want the chance to win some Makeship merch (or 6 months of the $10 tier for Zack's Patreon or Zack's entire itch.io library), you have less than one week left to submit a bracket!
Hi everyone! It’s time for the Starch Radness 9 BONUS ROUND!
We want to know which Paranatural group is your favorite OUT OF ALL OF THEM AT ONCE!
The bonus round polls will begin posting at 2PM Pacific Time.
Tumblr polls only allows us to put 10 options in a poll, so we’re using 4 polls, with 8 of the 32 groups we presented in each poll and a ninth option that indicates “My choice is in a different poll.”
Please vote for only one group and choose “My choice is in a different poll.” in the 3 polls that DO NOT have the your favorite group.
Thanks for playing with us this year, and we can’t wait to see you again for Starch Radness 10 next year!
The time has come for STARCH RADNESS 9, FINAL ROUND!!!

After looking at the top voted groups (any with 10 or more votes), the results of the Starch Radness 9 Bonus Round say…
The Jang is the all-around favorite group!
It’s always interesting to see if the bonus round results agree with the official Starch Radness results, and this year, it looks like there were some differing opinions!
Thank you SO MUCH for joining us in Starch Radness 9 this year! We are so grateful for the fandom’s excitement for this event and the comic itself, and we can’t wait to see you for Starch Radness 10 next year!
