When their eyes meet, Elliott knew it even before checking his timer. The boy meeting his eyes was his soulmate.
It all had started when his best friend and also ex boyfriend, Matthew, had dragged him to see his soulmate dance thing, it was the Make Music New York day, so he had been planning to go anyway, but he didn’t really care that much for the dance part of the whole thing. He did love dancing, he had great respect for the dancers, they could do things nobody else could, and were flexible as fuck. So yeah, watching them was always wonderful, but when his timer was getting closer to hit zeroes. He just don’t want to be one of those people that miss their mark for whatever reason. “Matt, I’m gonna miss it.” He complained, the other man just rolled his eyes. “Maybe your soulmate is around, you never know." Elliott just groaned in response. Maybe that person did was around, but he wasn’t gonna meet them watching at the stage, would he?
Turns out, he was so wrong. He knew it the moment his gaze fell on the boy on stage; he beamed when their eyes meet and the small smile on the other boy's face was all confirmation he needed.
But then he started dancing with his group and, man, Elliott could feel himself falling a little in love. The boy had some moves, His movements were precise, perfectly executed, but they had soul and heart. It was amazing watching him perform.
Once the whole thing finished, Elliott looked for the other man, and found him talking with the other dancers. He stood there, kind of nervous, he didn't exactly know how introduce himself with his soulmate, but he hoped he liked him, at least, or it would be a disaster. The boy excused himself from his group of friends, who all turned around to watch Elliott and accomplished something nearly impossible. Making Elliott felt self-conscious. All doubts were erased, though, when the boy smiled at him. He was tall and really cute, super talented too, he already liked him. "Hey," Elliott whispered. "I'm Elliott. I just-- you know." He lifted his wrist to point at his timer. "I also think you dance really well."
The other boy laughed a little and spoke. "I'm Mike. Nice to meet you, Elliott. Finally,"
